Bob Leach writes me the grand news that he is a great grandfather, Robert M. Leach 3rd having arrived in Providence, R. 1., October 12, 1949. Bob says not to let the other boys in the class be discouraged since he left college at the end of Sophomore year and was married that fall, so had a two years' start. Next summer Bob will have completed 50 years on the payroll of the Glenwood Range Cos., where he is Chairman of the Board. He is also a director at the National Shawmut Bank in Boston and spends one day a week there. Most of his time, however, is spent at his lovely home Sans Souci, on the shore at Webster Lake in Franklin, N. H., where he farms and does some hunting and fishing. In the winter, he spends 2 months in Florida, which makes me believe we could get quite a reunion of 1902 in that state along in February.
Your secretary went to the Harvard-Dartmouth game this fall and thoroughly enjoyed the thrilling passing of Clayton and the heads-up play of the whole team, especially the beautiful defensive tackling of Captain Carey. I had looked forward to meeting some of the 1902 brethren but did not see a soul I knew. Perhaps it was that, being a secretary, I got a preferred seat on the 40-yard line but I would rather be less preferred and sit near the boys. I understand Al Shilling and BobLeach were there and knew Louis Dow and Ethel attended as they, with their usual hospitality, entertained Jennie and myself royally before and after the game.
Louis and I had a pleasant call on our old friend and classmate, Judge Keniston. "Kenie" had been laid up 2 weeks with pneumonia and looked a bit pale but under the good nursing of Alice said he was recovering nicely.
