Magazine deadlines being what they are, we're writing this in September, before the football season begins; and you'll be reading this in late November, after the season is over. We trust we found a quarterback and a running back and that we won our share.

Nor can we report yet on the minireunion reunion Oct. 1-3, but widows planning to attend include Sheila Miller, staying with Ro and Pinky Corroon and Maryann Pfeifle, who stayed with Liz and Bill Craig. Wonderful moves and news.

Barbara and Charlie Spallino are fresh from a summer cruise with Barbara and Dick Ostberg on a "mail boat" which touched at small villages and ports along the coast of Norway. Barbara Spallino and Barbara "Proc" Ostberg were roommates at Smith College a few years back. And just in case you didn't know, Charlie's sister is married to Paul Cray, and they live in North Walpole, N.H.

More on the H. Caldwells. Hardwick had a couple of golf tournaments up north (and in Massachusetts he roomed with TedMunro), and the Barradales and the Hiers managed to get them for Overnighters in Brattleboro and Cornish Flat, respectively. I'm afraid we were somewhat of a comedown for Hardwick and Betsy, who last summer won a Delta Airlines frequent flyer contest and four days at the British Open at Royal Birkdale, "It was fantastic," said Hardwick as was his second hole-in-one later in the summer, his second in a single year and his first two ever.

Skai and Homer Bogart have also been suitcasing around the globe: Russia, Latvia, England, South America, and Alaska. In England they had dinner with Helen and Bob Gifford (Helen had a triple by-pass but, happily, is ready to swim the English Channel), and in Alaska they dined on fresh salmon and halibut, thanks to pilot-son David who flew them to choice fishing sites.

Closer to home, Ben Jones, our everready EMT, was at the ready when a power boat capsized off Shelter Island, Long Island in August, and he cared for survivors.

Sharp-eyed Don Burnham, who vacations in Maine, spotted vanity license plate photos in a local newspaper, including the CCR plate Chuck Richardson uses on his antique classic Chevrolet convertible.

And my bifocals picked up a July NyTimes story about the sign for Jerry Brody's Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station. Jerry's sign has been in place for 23 years, and he says he needs it to attract customers; but the $196 million Beaux-Arts renovation committee mittee wasn't sure that Jerry's old sign was up to snuff. Stay tuned....

New Hampshire's New England College political science professor Bunny Sayce says he is happily retired these days but is still busy-busy. Outdoor activities, old students returning for visits, and travel—such as renting a villa in Tuscany for several months.

Dick Rice in Laconia N.H., says he's doing lots of therapy for a sore shoulder, so that he can keep his golf and tennis games respectable.

Patti and Dave Eckels celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August at their summer camp in northern Vermont before "a cast of thousands"—family, relatives, and friends.

Jack Shearer's former Shearer Chevrolet in Shelburne Vt., has moved up a notch or two to Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs. according to commercials, under the direction of a nephew. Jack and wife Dianne divide their time these days between Vermont and Colorado.

Karl Musser died Sept. 30, 1998. Our sympathy.

That's it. Happy holidays and blessings.
