We pulled a boner a few months ago in reporting "Austie" Baker a married man. Bum dope this secretary receives once in a while. However it did offer Austie a chance to write a very welcome letter, and while we bow our heads in shame and beg forgiveness for the error we're kinda' smiling too, 'cause it's going to work out all right in the end. So I'll let Austie take it from here.

"Your startling revelation is in error waited hopefully for truckloads of wedding presents, but none came—a check of the Inn records will show I was there—alone. However as a windup of this phase I did become engaged on Jan. 1, 1949 to a very nice girl, by name Polly Wason of Hingham, Mass.—plans somewhat nebulous, but hope to take the big step sometime between now and June."

Thanks for setting the record straight. Austie also reports a bit on another of his activitieswhich is primarily the wool business and specifically Boston manager for Arthur Philip Co. He hits New York state and New England frequently, and can manage to make Hanover headquarters for covering the latter area. He mentions having recently seen Bill Blanchard,Bill Morrow, Doug Bridge, and "Snuffy"Smith. Sees Jack Selby a lot when Jack is around Boston visiting and relaxing from the medical grind. Jack by the way is in Philadelphia. He mentions seeing Howie Wilson and his wife in Boston for a visit last fall shortly after the birth of their daughter. "Bake" also passes on the word that "Soup"and Barbara Campbell have a young son Robert Webster Campbell Jr. born Oct. 31, 1948 way down in Helena, Ark.

"Stu" May checks in this month with a report on the N. Y. Dartmouth dinner. Present were Steve Winship—the New York Trib's right arm Seth Fitchet, back from Newton, Mass., Jim Meissner all the way down from Spring Valley for the party, recently engaged "Red" Power, Al Becker, Mike Guida who had to sing for his supper, but was further distinguished by being the one '41 to break his bread at the head table, George Seel, ex-neighbor of mine, golfer par excellence, and a sturdy member of a notorious Sunday touch-football team, and George Thompson, once glimpsed in London, but currently in the chemical business. "Stu" has spent some time skiing this winter—which can also be said for Bruce Friedlich, who high-tailed it for Canada with Kathy— Friedlich that is—for a glorious couple of weeks on the boards.

Stu also reports having seen Ed Acker around town—and Ed is at Macy's, and manages to keep an eye on that sporting goods merchant—the rowdy one—Douty. That about winds up our "letters" column this month, so now on to the other dope collected not so first hand.

Bill Cashel has recently been promoted to local manager of the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. Bill joined Bell in 1946 after a long stint in the Marine Corps, and until his most recent promotion was in charge of the company office in Coatesville. Bill is married and has two sons Bill 3rd, aged 3 and Robert,. 1.

Quite a bit of romantic news to report this month. Dan Dacey has recently been married —Oct. 2 to be exact. Mrs. Dacey is the former Margaret L. Hoar of West Roxbury. Dan and his wife are living in Allston, Mass.

On Oct. 16 Miss Anna Louise Bodycoat and Hervey Lewis were married. They are now living in Shelton, Conn. More romantic news still, as we have recently learned that FelixLilienthal and Bob Fry will soon be married men. On Dec. 1 Felix engagement to Miss Ann Finkenberg of New York City was announced, and on Christmas Day the engagement of Miss Elizabeth Tucker Hornaday to Bob Fry was announced.

And from the far west comes still another announcement, for Miss Emma Pauline Hawley's betrothal to Burritt Hinman Jr. was announced on Nov. 21 in Boise, Idaho.

The Bob O'Briens have a new little gal named Adrienne born on December 31—which must have been cause for the happiest New Years' Eve ever for O'bie. And also we have heard that George and Charlotte Canfield have a baby boy. This last bit of news more in the nature of a flash, for as yet we don't know the child's name or birthday.

Just a short bit of news concerning Dr. Willard Wilson reporting in from Brighton, Ontario, with the dope that his family now numbers two youngsters, a son three years old, and a little daughter, born Oct. 4, 1948.

Had a chat with Bob Nissen and Bill Sleepeck not long ago. Both are fine—Niss recently married and living near Hinsdale, Ill., and "Sleep" a busy boy in the printing business. That winds things up for this month. See you again in April.
