It's a very nice feeling I have tonightspring is very definitely on the way. Normally I'm one to take the changing seasons in stride, acknowledging and enjoying each one. However, any of you who may be, as I am, associated with the coal industry are delighted to see the end of this winter. It's been a pistol.

Had an interesting note from George Herman some few months ago from Seoul, Korea. George as you may recall is with CBS and has been globe-trotting all of this year. His itinerary reads something like this— Israel, Ankara, Istanbul, Athens, Vienna, Frankfurt, Berlin, Paris, London and then back to old NYC. George should be home about now, as he is due back in this country in April. Don't know if any of you heard any of his broadcasts, but I can truthfully say, George, that one of your Saturday afternoon broadcasts was thoroughly enjoyed by my wife and myself. Quite by mistake, mind you, for the gremlins kinda' loused up the first few minutes of your recorded talk but somebody straightened out the tape or something and thanks to you I learned a lot more about Korea in that half hour than I had until then.

By the way, if any of you fellows collect stamps, or your kids do, I've a beaut from Korea. To the first one who asks it's yours.

I'm kinda' pleased about something else tonight too—as some months ago I candidly suggested that since a lot of you fellows had seemingly forgotten how to express yourselves with a pen or pencil, perhaps your wives would pick up the ball.

B'golly "Skipper" Rodes crashed through— to mention but one, and thanks to her we have some news of the Rodes family. "Dusty"' doesn't write to anyone as often as he should, as his wife readily admits, for "Dusty" keepspretty busy as an assistant professor in the engineering department at UCLA and alsofinds time to act as assistant director of relations with schools, an interesting administrative job. The Rodes have three youngsters now. John, born Nov. 5, 1949, was eagerly awaited as he already had been preceded by two sisters named Sandy and Leslie. John has a nickname too—can you guess? What other than "Rocky"—pretty slick.

Skipper goes on to say that they haven't met many '41's of late but that Bob Kinsman '40 is also at UCLA as an English instructor. If Farley wants to crib this he may, but it seems that Dusty and "Red" Wilson '42 sing; in a glee club together and that on New Years Eve the two of them had everybody on the campus singing the "Winter Song." Skipper winds up saying, "Guess the UCLA folks at the party must think that Dartmouth is a pretty special place, and that it is." Thanks "Skip" for the sentiments and the letter.

A note from Sister Sue informs me that Bill "the Spide" Spinney is safely ensconced:' in Denver, at 1465 Bellaire Drive to be exact. Jean and "Spider" have three youngsters- Susie 3½, Scotty 1½, and Freddy about six months old. Bill is with the phone company in Denver, and enjoys being able to pack his boards on the top of the car and be in skiing country in a few minutes. A slug of '41's in Denver now. How are you guys doing?

The Bill Lowry's have a son Bill Jr., bom January 15 in Cleveland, and a very clever birth announcement it was too, Bill. Thanks.

Ralph Johnson has recently been in the hospital, and at the time underwent a knee operation. Talked with him from his bedside not long ago, and he will soon be up and around again—on the golf course.

The "Bud" Rothermel's have bought a new house—across the street from their old one. Larger—with lots more room for growing youngsters to romp in.

Just a reminder again—how many of you have forgotten those class dues? Get that $4 off in the mail right away to "Stu" May ami he will sleep a little better these nights.

Bob Fisher is living now in Stevens Point, Wis. Art Cruttenden and wife Nancy are Chicago suburbanites living in Barrington. "Win" Manley is now in San Diego. Dr. JohnSelby is back in Newton Upper Falls, Mass. Joe Hill, to my knowledge, is still in New Haven. Tom Jardine is down in Newark, N. J. Alex Salrn is here in Chicago, and from what I gather is associated with the Stevens, Hotel.

See you in May.
