We are sorry to report the death of HerseyJohnson in April, and this is covered in the obituary notes in the current MAGAZINE. "We have reported that the Dr. Mac Shepards have been consistent visitors to the Hanover Inn. Being a bit curious, I wrote Mac and here is the unfortunate part of the story:

"Thank you for your inquiry about my being in Hanover so much. The "why" is all due to an hour's skiing last February—during which Betty broke her leg. The ski hut in Woodstock, Vt. was equipped with splints, bandages, etc., thanks to the Ski Association, so the trip to Hanover was safer and more comfortable than it would have been otherwise. The Mary Hitchcock "took over" with the smooth efficiency born of much practice. After three weeks of hospital care, I was allowed to bring my patient home, but with crutches and lots of plaster. We have been up once since, for a change of cast and hope to get rid of that by June 1. It's a long haul (14weeks) but progress is satisfactory, and the patient wants to ski again next year."

As this goes to press, we got a brief report indirectly through George Winger, Herb Talbot and Tiger Lyon that Neil Williams is ill at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz, in serious condition. I know he would appreciate letters from his friends, and I hope for a favorable report in the next edition of the Notes.

Jim Adams comes up with a novel idea to further our Memorial Fund cause which would make Bob Borwell very happy. I am quoting his letter in part and you will hear individually from him.

"I'm enclosing some mailings which should be going forward to all 25ers within a few days. The idea is, of course, to cadge a few bucks for Bob Borwell's Memorial Fund-25 year gift to the College. I went over the idea with Bob and with George Colton when they were here in New York this winter. Both of them liked the idea, and I am hopeful of raising upward of $lOOO for the Fund by this process. This, of course, depends upon the degree to which members of the Class send in their checks for their own bulb requirements and influence their friends and neighbors to do likewise. The latter is most important. This is not a substitute for the contribution of free dollars to the Fund, but it is a chance for Dartmouth gardners and their friends to buy Dutch bulbs of top quality at or below the going rate. At the same time, the profit goes to the Memorial Fund. My good wife Marjorie, besides taking care of our three children, did the job for her own school last year with marked success." His address is James B. Adams, 425 East 86th Street, New York City 28.

Early in April Tib by Marshall's Bank celebrated its 150 th Anniversary in regal fashion. The high point in festivities came when the2500 employees and their families, about 14,000 all told, took over an evening performanceof Ringling Bros, and Barnum & Bailey Circusat Madison Square Garden.

Ford Whelden in Hanover wishes to remind all of you of the importance of getting pictures of your complete family in to him as soon as possible. The summer is the logical time to take family pictures—in many cases it is the only time the whole group will be together. If the 25 year report is going to be a success—from the standpoint of the family pictures —the members of the class must cooperate. Vbout a dozen pictures have come in so far -and they are great. About 5 inches by 3 inches is the ideal size—glossy print or negatjye—but larger pictures can be reduced. Please give the matter Operational Priority and send the pictures with all names attached to Ford at Elm Street, Norwich, Vermont or 208 Parkhurst Hall, Hanover, N. H.

Preliminary plans are already under way for our 25th next June. If you have any suggestions for our reunion and don't express them, don't blame us. Suggestions can be sent to me or Frank B. Wallis, Reunion Chairman, 84 State St., Boston.
