In the General Motors brochure there are pictures of the general managers of all plants and a good one of Victor Olsen, general manager of the Hydromatic Department.
Bruce W. Bidwell, Earl Bidwell's son. entered the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in the class starting July 5. He has been an electrical engineering student at Norwich University at Northfield, Vt., for the past two years. While there he was named Alden Partridge scholar and this year was awarded the Sons of the American Revolution medal for military proficiency and excellence. This is a splendid award, well deserved.

William "Bill" Tapley died in Brooklyn, N. Y. on July 31 after a long illness. We regret this announcement to the class and will refer you to the more complete notice in this issue of the MAGAZINE. His wife Georgia and his daughter Georgia have the deep sympathy of the class.
Buff Buffum has opened an office as an independent public accountant in the Central National Bank and Trust Cos. Bldg., at 363 Main St., Middletown, Conn. For the past ten years Buff has been associated with Knust, Everett and Cambria, in industrial, commercial and municipal auditing and tax work. He will serve you in supervisory accounting, in the preparation of periodical financial statements, auditing or federal and state tax work.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Everett Sides announced the marriage of their daughter Florence Ellen to Mr. Richard Storey Heath on Saturday May 6, 1950. They were married at Falmouth, Mass.
Another classmate gone. Word has just been received that Russell F. Varney died on August 5, 1950 at Camp Lincoln, at Lake Hubert, Minn., of a heart attack. The funeral was held August 7 at the Episcopal Church of St. John, St. Paul, Minn. We hope to have information to add his obituary in this MAGAZINE. Mrs. Bertha Varney and her daughter Margaret have the sympathy of the class at this time of bereavement.
Dr. Bob Barstow is an amateur yachtsman and one of his hobbies is the work of the Maine Seacoast Mission with which he holds an informal commission as assistant skipper of the Sunbeam. He often spends vacations in the summer or winter in this sturdy little ship, visiting the lighthouses and remote fishing hamlets. He is the author of Getting Acquainted with God, a Cycle of Prayers forChildren.
Harold Shedd has moved from Haverhill, Mass., and now has his retail meat and groceries business on Main St., in Hampstead, N. H.
George McClary, following his trip to Hanover this year, moved his home to 720 Walden Rd., Winnetka, Ill.
Word has just come from Minneapolis of the sudden death of Hap Ativood at his home at Lake Minnetonka. On Sunday morning. August 27, he collapsed on the dock and fell into the lake. His body was found floating in the water. A heart attack was believed to be the cause of death, for no water was found in his lungs. Hap was Vice-President of the B. F. Nelson Manufacturing Cos. in Minneapolis before becoming President of the First National Bank of Minneapolis in 1945. He had represented the 9th Federal Reserve advisory council on the Federal advisory council of the Federal Reserve Bank. Hap has been President of the class since our last reunion. We hope to include a memorial account in this issue of the MAGAZINE. His family, so closely associated with the class and the College, have the deep sympathy of us all.
