Here it is fall again! And a lot of things have happened within the class and to its members since I last reported to you in May, but I'll try to cover as much of the activity as space will permit.

As you may already know, the class turned in a grand showing in the Fund drive, finishing second in our Green Derby with a total of $13,035.32 in contributions (our second highest total) from 411 contributors (a new record for numbers). To Al Louer and his assistants our sincere thanks for a grand job one of which we may all well be proud.

A second big meeting of the Class Memorial Fund Committee was held at the Dartmouth Club in New York on July 19. BobStopford presided and discussed plans for making our twenty-fifth-year gift to the College the outstanding one to date. In attendance were Paul Allen, Dick Mandel, BobCleary, Hal Marshall, Reg Hanson, Jack McIlwraith, Don Hopkins, Chuck Webster,Charlie Singleton, Carle Blunt and yours truly. With the help of each man in the class, and under Bob's leadership, the campaign should be most successful.

In Hartsdale, N. Y„ on June 27, Miss May

flora C. Cobb of Dover Plains, N. Y., became the bride of Richard Major. Dick's son Richard 3rd served as his father's best man. After a wedding trip to the White Mountains, the bride and groom will reside in Hartsdale. Our congratulations to you both!

In Greenwich, Conn., on July 22, our capable New York correspondent, Ed Hanlon, and one Miss Evelyn Seabaugh were also joined in the bonds of holy matrimony and our hearty congratulations also go to these newly-weds.

WAH-HOO-WAHS!

On June 30, Joe Batchelder announced the formation of Joseph M. Batchelder & Cos., investment securities, with offices at Ill Devonshire Street, Boston. Joe was previously associated with Vance, Sanders & Cos.; Graham Parsons & Cos. and most recently was vicepresident of the Fidelity Management & Research Cos. Good luck in the new venture!

The N. Y. Times on August 18 noted the election of Carl E. Allen as president and a director of Campbell, Wyant and Cannon Foundry Company. Carl, who has been with the National City Bank since 1926, and as vice-president since 1940, will assume his new duties on September 15 and we wish him every success.

In May, George Champion, the senior vicepresident of the Chase National Bank was elected a director of the Better Business Bureau of New York City. To George, our congratulations.

F. Jordan (Jud) McCarthy was pictured in the August 18 issue of the Journal of Commerce signing a contract with Seagram Distillers Corporation on behalf of McCarthyHicks, Inc. of Baltimore, of which Jud is president. This was one of the first individually negotiated contracts that any jobber has signed with a major distiller.

Richard C. (Dick) Maloney, registrar and assignment officer at Kansas State College, has been named executive secretary in the Office of the President at Pennsylvania State College, the appointment to become effective September 5, according to a recent announcement by Dr. Milton S. Eisenhower, president of the college. More power to you, Dick!

Herbert (Hub) Harwood's daughter Georgia was recently awarded the grand prize of $500 in the Fifth Annual National High School Photographic Awards contest sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company. The picture, "Summer Surf," was taken by Georgia last summer while on her vacation and also won a $ 100 First Prize in Class Four of the contest, according to the news article forwarded to us by Ralph Thomas. Looks like Hub can plan to retire soon with such talent in the family.

HERE AND THERE!

Other '26ers appearing in various newspapers and other publications during the summer were Charlie Bishop of the Central Hanover Bank & Trust Cos. who grins gleefully at us from a picture of a group attending the New York Bond Club Outing in June
