News of the death early in September of Alice Strong so soon after Arthur's death on May 18 came as a shock as we had not known of her illness. Her interest in everything pertaining to '92 and her cooperation in Arthur's work as secretary make her loss felt all the more keenly by the Class. Our sympathy is extended to her sister, Mrs. James O'Malley, 157 East 72 Street, New York.
Mrs. Laurence Leavitt (Dorothy Hall) has contributed two pieces of news of pleasing interest to '92. The first is that Dorothy's daughter, Mrs. Sally Cheney, has a daughter, Dorothy Leavitt Cheney, born August 24 in Boston. The second is that on October 14 a new Varsity football field to be known as the Edward Kimball Hall Playing Field, and said by Dorothy to be one of the finest and most beautiful anywhere, was dedicated at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vt. Our congratulations to Dorothy and Larry Leavitt '25
Weston writes, "Still hobbling around on crutches and it handicaps my gardening. I have to crawl on hands and knees to pull weeds and hire a high school boy to mow the lawn. Just the same I find much to interest me." In spite of many physical handicaps West maintains a cheerful outlook on life. Nor is he going to let Clark get away with all the honors concerning sons and grandsons. He says he has a grandson who has gone to a U.S. Army camp and a son who is assistant superintendent of Solvay Process Cos., doing a 150 million dollar business with a plant that cost over 180 million to build and employing about 3500. It was interesting to have this information as we had assumed that the two attractive daughters who accompanied West at our last reunion were his only children.
