Just before I left the East for Taft Territory, I ran into Bad Bill Sanders. Never one to mince words, William quite candidly opined on the state of this column. "It stinks!" quoth he, and to prove his point, noted that the name BILL SANDERS never appeared in it. So in an effort to remove a little of the fragrance, I'd like to speak about 8i11.... but I can't quite recall just what he is doing. However, as I remember, it is important.... and lucrative. Something like repairing broken bicycle seats in Hell's Kitchen.

Quite a bit of news from the legal department: Dave Parks and his pretty wife Dorcas made a second trip down the aisle last June .... this time at Boston U., where they both received bachelor of law degrees (and with cum laude yet). They will open a law practice as partners in Springfield .... and in Norwalk, Conn., Harvard Law graduate Steve Tate has joined the firm of Keogh and Candee .... in Athens, Ga., Charlie Mottola has resigned from the faculty of the U. of Ga. Law School to become a partner in the law firm of Lester, Mottola & Kelly .... in Cleveland Bob Gilchrist is a member of the Burgess, Fulton and Fullmer law firm .... out in Tucson, the BobF. Millers are now a foursome. The latest: Mark Andrew, on Sept. 10 .. .. and in Boston, Win Turner has been admitted to the Mass. Bar

For a little in the medical picture: EricBarradale is confining his interest to rundown molars in Brattleboro; he opened his dental office in July. Dr. Joe Buckley has resigned his post as head of the Medical and Surgical Bldg. at St. Lawrence Hospital to take an advanced course in anesthesiology (first semester devoted to the spelling of the word). Dick Beckwith was recently commissioned a first looie in the Medical Service Corps of the Army Air Corps Reserve. Not yet called to active service, Dick is continuing his work as Ass't Administrator of the Highland Hospital in Rochester, N. Y

Dr. Phil Scholl is at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn and Dr. Bill Trier is now a Lt. jg peddling potions at the US Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va.

And in the athletic department: Bob Myers, former Cincinnati golf champ, now living in Indianapolis, captured the Hoosier amateur links championship in his first season of Indiana golf competition. Tommy and SueDouglas have converted their house beautiful into a proving ground for future Dartmouth gridiron glory. The youngsters are rounding up into promising shape. Tom is an electrical insulation salesman operating out of Aurora, O and in his travels contacts his old running mate John Roberts quite frequently. Over in Hawaii, John Peacock is ass't manager of Flowers of Hawaii in Hilo where he is making his home.

At a special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Haydn Society in Boston, TomCrowder was elected president of the corporation. The Haydn Society is engaged in issuing phonograph records of the works of Haydn and other eighteenth century composers, and in publishing the complete works of Joseph Haydn. Their membership is international and is represented throughout Europe.

Dick Gilman has been appointed instructor of philosophy and religion at Colby College. A member of the American Philosophical Association and author of many magazine articles, Dick has taught at Dartmouth, Boston V., and the New College in London, England. He is presently in line for a Ph.D. from Boston U.

Now for just a few glances: Frank Parker combining work and pleasure as Sales Representative for the Schlitz Brewing Cos., operating out of Cambridge Chuck Richardson joining the Cleveland ranks selling plastic products for a Texas outfit Dave Pierson the District Sales Manager for the Minnesota Valley Canning Company in Fort Worth, Texas Wilbur Reinman with Station WBBW in Youngstown, O Don Hinkley huckstering for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati Sherm Pinkham, manager of the Circulating Oil Heater Cos., in Minneapolis, Minn and Bob Kaatz leaving Minneapolis to take a position as manager of the Superior Separator Company in St. Boniface, Man., Canada.

Howard Wood is with the Maltbie Laboratories, Inc., in Newark, N. J Jim Finn preparing to go over-seas for the Texas Company, presently living in Scarsdale FredGraf is assistant sales manager of the Narrow Fabric Cos. in Keene, N. H AndyMacDowell in Rochester, N. Y., in the sales department of Eastman Kodak.

I don't believe we have announced that the George Bruces are now a threesome: .... the new heir, Robin Adaire.

By the time this reaches you, Jim Carter and Nancy Brewster of Elizabethtown, N. Y„ will be man and wife. Jim, a graduate of Columbia Law School, is presently with the law firm of Carter and Conboy in Albany.

And then we have the good news that Howie Pennington and the very lovely Alita Lewis have made plans for a spring wedding. Howie is with the Wellington Sears Company in New York.

The following got back to Hanover recently: Frank McWilliams, Don Heller, the Don Hinkleys and the "Bushy" Scdomanowitzes.

JOHN L. BECKWITH '44, First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, receives the oath of office from Brigadier General Edward J. Kendricks, Office of the Surgeon General USAF.

BETWEEN THEM Ed Roewer '44 and his wife Anne play a leading part at the Pembroke School in Kansas City. Ed is baseball and football coach and teaches English and Spanish; Anne is art in- structor.
