Hose Craig just phoned with the tough news that Bob McLaughry had a skiing accident last weekend which resulted in a broken hip. It's indefinite now just how lone Bob will be confined at the Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover. Being hospitalized must be a specially antsy situation for an active fellow like Boston Bob. Drop him a note or a card as a bit of diversion from the bedpan brigade. One good piece of news for the McLaughrys however was the successful treatment Joan received at a special MS hospital in Boston last tall

Bob Allen has been elected Vice President of Paribas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas. Bob who as Institutional Sales Manager is responsible for all domestic sales activities has been with Paribas since early 1961, directly after the Corporation was founded as a major underwriter of foreign, corporate and municipal securities. Previous to joining Paribas, Bob was vice president of Aubrey G. Lanston & Co. and associated with Alex Brown & Sons. In Haworth, N. J., where Bob and Jean and the five kids live, Bob is president of the board of trustees for the First Congregational Church, is president of the Haworth Community Chest, and former chairman of the Parks and Playgrounds Committee.

The yellow page triumvirate ot Dayton, Berry-Craig-Welch, had a record boom vear in '64 according to Hose, and L. M. Berry is off again in '65 to even higher levels. They recently moved their operations to the new posh L. M. Berry Building. Sperk, through no desire of his own, but only through the insistence of his ski-expert daughters, has been hitting the boards regularly in northern Ohio and at this late stage has become a modern-day Tony Matt, according to impartial observers.

Golfer Pinky Corroon is moving from his home in Scarsdale ten miles "up state'' to a new home in Rye fronting on the West-chester Country Club. He plays at Winger Foot and Scarsdale; while he claims he has no intention of joining Westchester, its just a matter of time once he starts banging lazy wedge shots out of his back yard that the committee will put the arm on him.

For some time now you've been reading about the Air Force development of the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft—the XC142A. This giant plane, which can carry 32 fully equipped combat troops or 8000 pounds of cargo, take off vertically, land vertically, and cruise in excess of 300 mph, recently made its first transition flight in Dallas and performed "flawlessly." It was interesting to note that the officer in charge of this entire program is none other than Lt. Col. Gene Callaghan who is based at Wright Patterson Field. This is the plane with the tilt wing design.

Newton, Mass., City Clerk Monte Basbas has announced his candidacy for Mayor in that city's upcoming November elections. Monte has been City Clerk for the past 14 years and for two years before that tenure began he served as assistant city clerk. A practicing attorney, director of several financial concerns, and past officer of veterans and Masonic organizations, Monte has also been active in community programs, heading up the United Fund, Cancer Society Drive, Retarded Children's Drive, Boy Scout, Salvation Army, and many other worthy efforts. He should run a good race.

Vin Mitchell's wife Peggy dropped a note from Buenos Aires telling how much they and their daughter Kathy are enjoying their lives down there. Vin is financial attache with the American Embassy and in that capacity rapidly re-learned the Spanish he had proceeded to forget over the past twenty years. Kathy is nearing college age and is eyeing Smith which seems to please the old man. The Mitchells are anxious to get back in touch with Dick and RomiMorse. So if the ALUMNI MAGAZINE finds its way to you in India, Dick, drop them a note care of the Embassy.

The more I read about Claude Schuchter's outside activities the more I wonder where he finds time for banking. As exec.- v.p. of the Manufacturers and Trading Trust Company. Claude gets into all the diverse civic, business, and arts activities of the Buffalo area. The more chairmanships and directorates he accepts, the more seem to pile up on him. He seems like the best candidate to take over writing these class notes.
