Back in the southland once again. From now until next June I'll be back here at the same old stand. This, of course, is on the supposition that Uncle Sam stays off my ample frame. I'll be happy to hear from "you all."
I didn't mention it in last month's column but I do think that Bob Kimball and his assistant agents did a wonderful job on this year's Alumni Fund Drive. It's a lot of work and they certainly rate a lot of praise. We didn't quite make the top but we're gaining on it every year. A bag of peanuts to everyone who participated!
Al Schlosser passed through Chapel Hill on his vacation trip to points South. We witnessed the opening of the 1950 football season here as the Tarheels handled the rugged North Carolina State team. Al hopes to get down to see Mike and Demi Castillo in Havana.
Word has it that the Reg Pierces are ex pecting again.
Charlie Duncan has recently taken a position with a law firm in New York City.
Among those fortunate enough to spend a few days at the Inn recently were: Mr. andMrs. Sandy Treat, Mr. and Mrs. John Gogle,Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schiff, Mr. and Mrs.E. K. Simon Jr. and Roger P. Lochhead.
Johnny Steele and Dorothy Ann Conroy of Cincinnati announced their engagement on August 10. Dorothy is a graduate of Smith.
Gene Bossi and Elizabeth Grant of Roxbury, Mass., were married on August 6. Gene is now in his fourth year at Harvard Medical School.
Tom Andrews and Barbara Jane Ransome of Riverton, N. J. were married there on August 19. They will live in Richmond, Va., after they return from a wedding trip to Bermuda.
That winds it up for another month. Again, may I remind you to get your questionnaires in to Miss Ford pronto!
