We can all take real pride in the long list of names following this short column and the splendid record of our class as shown elsewhere in this MAGAZINE. Coggy Broer's recent letter to the class told the whole story better than we can do it, but we would like to extend here again our sincere thanks to Coggy Broer and his assistants and to all who contributed so generously.
Perhaps this is the proper time to announce our good fortune in having Spencer Cook agree to accept the assignment as Class Agent for next year. We know he merits and will get the same cooperation and support from all the class. Spence, who lives in Rochester, N. Y., has been an active assistant agent for several years now. He is Secretary and Treasurer of Cook Iron Store Company where he has worked since 1929. Spence and his wife have two daughters, Mary Louise, age 16, and Dorothy, age 14.
Our Memorial Fund Chairman, Gus Cum-mings, recently gathered in New York with several men from that area for a very enthusiastic session regarding our campaign for this fund. Those present besides Gus were Charlie Bartlett, Lee Greenebaum, Ros Nichols, Rog Bury, Don O'Hara, Al Lagacy, MikeKetz and Dud Bonsall. Similar meetings are scheduled for the near future in both Chicago and Boston.
During the national meeting of the American College of Surgeons held here in Boston recently we enjoyed a very pleasant luncheon session with Dr. Lowell Wormley of Phoenix, Ariz. Prior to the war Worms had practiced as a urologist in New York City for some 13 years. In 1942 he entered the Army Medical Corps and for some time was stationed at a hospital in Arizona. He apparently liked the country so well that after the war he decided to settle in Phoenix where he has been specializing in surgery being on the staff of the three hospitals there.
Ken Murdoch of Marion, la. and his wife were in Boston for the Harvard Game. Earlier they had visited in Hanover where their son George is now a freshman. We had a brief but pleasant meeting with Ken and his wife at the Copley the night before the game. Ken is now a partner in the Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion, la.
In the recent press accounts of the unfortunate death of John Boettiger we notice that Ted Swanson was mentioned as president of the company of which Mr. Boettiger was vice president. Since 1946 Ted has been president of Theodor Swanson and Co. Inc., whose business is public relations.
Recent reorganization in the adminstration staff in Hanover announces the creation of a new office, that of Comptroller, which will handle all the accounting functions of the College and its office will be headed by BobFunkhouser.
