THE Hanover property of the late Sally Drew Hall has been bequeathed to Dartmouth College for the creation of a trust fund contributing to the maintenance of Dick's House, the college infirmary, it was announced last month by President Dickey.

The trust left by Mrs. Hall, who died last October, will be known as the Edward Kimball Hall and Sally Drew Hall Fund. Its income will not be used for normal running expenses or routine operation of Dick's House but will be used, as directed by Mrs. Hall's will, for the upkeep and renewal of the infirmary library, furnishings and decorations, so as "to maintain the quality, atmosphere and spirit of the House as originally conceived and carried out by Dick's parents." The property left to Dartmouth by Mrs. Hall consists of the large, fireproof residence at 35 Rope Ferry Road, shown in the photograph above, it was built in 1930 by Mrs. Hall and the late Edward K. Hall '92 when they came to Hanover to make their home. Mr. Hall before his retirement was Vice President of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company and for many years was Chairman of the National Football Rules Committee. After bis death in 1932 Mrs. Hall continued to live in the house on Rope Ferry Road, not far from Dick's House which she and Mr. Hall gave to Dartmouth in 1927 as a memorial to their son, a member of the Class of 1927, who died while an undergraduate.

The College has the choice of selling the house or of using it and devoting the annual rental to the purposes of the trust. Income not expended in any one year is to be placed in a reserve and used later as more extensive replacements are needed. According to John F. Meek '33, Treasurer of the College, no decision has been reached with regard to the sale or use of the property.
