The class executive committee decided to hold its fall mini-reunion early this year (as did some other classes) rather than hold it at the same time as Homecoming Weekend. The weekend of October 11-13 was selected to take advantage of the warmer weather in early October, and also so that the mini-reunion can once again be the place for celebrating the coinciding birthdays of Dave Prewitt and Vic Rich (October 13) and also the birthday of Bob Rosier (October 8).

During the summer, the class executive committee approved the set-up of the Class of '61 Memorial Fund. The committee spearheading this project is chaired by George Bland and is comprised of John Damon, Glen Gemelli, Mike Houlahan and Pete Bleyler. Appeals for contributions to the fund are anticipated to be modest and will encourage broad participation rather than large individual contributions. Large individual contributions, however, will not be rejected. Kudos to the committee.

The issue of eliminating non-dues-paying classmates from the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine subscription list was debated by the class executive committee during most of the summer. The final decision, at least for the current year and until the Alumni Council reviews on a College-wide basis the overall problem of substantially increased DAM costs to be absorbed by each class, was for our class to continue to absorb the cost for all classmates and widows of deceased classmates, whether or not they have paid their dues.

A class of '61 golf team comprised of Vic Rich, Len DiSavino and Bob Rosier (plus one non-Dartmouth member) won second place, low net at a member-guest tournament in July held at Cold Spring Country Club in Long Island, New York. Our all-'61 classmate team was foiled when one classmate, Larry Levy, was unable to participate at the last minute.

Also relating to golf, because of certain nuptial relationships with respect to Len DiSavino's daughter, Len wound up in Rhode Island playing golf with Ron Boss and Ralph Barton.

Cartter Frierson, president of TCF Consulting Group, participated as a distinguished alumni speaker back in April at the Tucker Foundation's 50th anniversary conference titled "Leadership for Social Change & Responsibility." Sounds very impressive!

As a final comment, Pete Bleyler is doing a great job as class president. He is relentless and has enormous energy for a 62-year-old. Every week he is coming up with another project or idea to consider and discuss. With the extensive use of e-mail by the class executive committee (thanks to Ron Wybranowski, at al), one simply cannot hide from Pete!
