The Dartmouth Club of Detroit held its first golf outing and stag party at Lockmoor Country Club on June 22. Seventeen "pseudo athletes" managed the 18 holes and were joined afterwards by a few of the lazier (or busier) club members for a delicious dinner and evening of cards. First honors went to Pem Pleasants '39 for low gross with Jim,Tracy '36 winning the Kicker's Handicap. Yours truly performed in his usual outstanding style to run off with the new president's prize for high gross awarded by Jack Scolaro '42.

By the time this gets into print the Detroit Club will have held its annual luncheon for the entering freshmen in this area. It is expected that approximately 12 members of the Class of 1955 will be our guests at the Old Wayne Club on September 17. Plans have been made to show the relatively new film, "My First Week at Dartmouth," a copy of which has just been obtained by the Detroit Club.

The Dartmouth Club of Detroit suffered a great loss with the death of Phil Watson '19 this summer and all of us who knew him will miss him greatly. Phil had been a strong supporter in our active group and all who worked with him on that very successful powwow last fall know the love he bore our college. His list of deeds for Dartmouth was long and the idea for the Dartmouth Club of Detroit Philip K. Watson Memorial Scholarship Fund seemed to come to life almost unaided as a fitting way to carry on for Phil. At a meeting of the executive committee of the club on August 15, the formal steps were taken to begin a tribute which we hope will grow each year.
