Greetings to all who weathered the summer and again undertake to read this column. The transition to fall is of course very difficult to make for many of us who specialize in engaging in seasonal activities. For those making war, however, this transition takes a very subtle form. Student as I am, summer's end came as a brutal shock, and ALUMNI MAGAZINE Editor Charlie Widmayer's letter reminding me to prepare the October sheet only aggravated my already tortured condition.

Not that I want to make a big deal out of the errors I occasionally make but there is one I'd like to get off my mind. In last May's column, it was stated that a certain Anne Jensvold (engaged to Jim Fannin last I heard) was Art Raybin's new bride. Well, that just wasn't true. A very gracious lady, the former Elaine Schine, identified herself as the real Mrs. Raybin. Furthermore, since I haven't heard from Anne, I'll certainly take Elaine's word for it. Pardonnez-moi.

As you can imagine, I've been "rewarded" this summer with voluminous quantities of '5B news; so much, in fact, that I could never hope to get it in one issue. So, in the interest of all who want to know what's happened to '58s in the last few months, I'm going to disregard literary style and rather make an incongruous list of items and names.

First, to announce those who have taken that matrimonial plunge: Tom Talley and Deborah Foss of Tehran, Iran; Dave Rice and Nancy Garfield of Syracuse, N. Y.; JohnOtis and Carol Dornemann of Needham, Mass.; Noel Nathanson and Susan Malvin of Rockville Centre, L. I.; Dave Morgan and Jean Sargent of Mt. Kisco, N. Y.; Dick Mahoney and LaVerne Hoyt of Newington, Conn.; Don McCree and Patricia Jones of Nantucket, Mass.; Fred Hart and Priscilla Goddard of Hanover, N. H.; Mel Croner and Judith Albert of Beverly, Mass.; Dave Chapin and Deborah Kay French of Wellesley Hills, Mass.; Don Whitham and Jean Cutler of Brain tree, Mass.; Mel Wellstead and Sandra Ann McBeth of Melrose, Mass.

Bob Friend and Fenton Goodwin of Roanoke, Va.; Lou Bloomfield and Jean Epstein of Cleveland, Ohio; Arnold Tenenbaum and Lorlee Shark; Paul Robinson and Wesley Allingham of Barrington, R. I.; Bob Brandt and Patricia Rose of Avon, N. J.; Fred Hildebrandt and Patricia Anne Mac Donald of Medford, Mass.; Dave Roak and Elizabeth Sandra Katte of New York, N. Y.; Doug Wilder and Cynthia Moore of Skaneateles, N. Y.; Dave Parsons and Christina Reeger of Toms River, N. J.; Ed Eppich and Prudence Morgan of Amherst, Mass.

It's a matter of some concern to me as to what this column will include when most 'sBs find themselves with wives. I suppose I'll always be able to drag up some dead cats here and there and turn this sheet into a kind of truth or consequences. At any rate, back to matters at hand.

Recent engagements: Margaret Coxhead of Quogue, L. I., to Lin Hall; Gay Lawrence of Winchester, Mass., to Brad Woods; Anne Hearn of Holyoke, Mass., to John McHugh; Eleanor Borton of Philadelphia, Penna., to John Wolf; Jane Golembe of New York to Frank Gould; Sandra Zahn of Kings Point, N. Y., to Don Shagrin (finally got a Sig in there); Jeralyn Cornish of Elizabeth, N. J., to John McCloskey; Susanna Waldbillig of Slingerlands, N. Y., to Charlie Henderson; Rosemary Ann Hamilton of Pittsford, N. Y., to Jon Lehman; Margaret Morton of Rye, N. Y., to Dick Shanaman; Mary Guyer of Erie, Penna., to John Goodnow; Margaret Loblein of Rumson, N. J., to John Chapman.

Got a real nice note from Andy Thomas a while back. Seems that he sacrificed his lieutenant's rating in order to get a position as sales trainee with the explosives division of the Atlas Powder Co. Things seem to be going his way, however, as he married Nat Wendell on June 19. Dave Johns, Andy Peterson and Jim Meeker ushered. Andy's now based in 'Frisco. Couple more items of interest: Dodd Wilson and Ginger Nothelfer's August wedding in Appleton, Minn.; Cy Handlesman and Joan Tibbals' July wedding in Chicago.

I've been kind of procrastinating on this "Class Boy" bit for quite a while now. What it boils down to is that the first male child born to a '58 married after graduation will eventually be proclaimed "Class Boy" and given a memento of his status. Well, we won't go announcing any winners for awhile now but I would appreciate you youngsters who think you're in the running to drop me a line reminding me of your birthdate. So far, I have an awfully good looking fellow who says he was born on March 27 at 10:09 A.M. Looks pretty good.

I have an awful lot of stuff still to report but for everyone's sake let us desist. In the meantime, keep me up on the news. It may not help me but it does enliven the column.
