1951's version of the Bisexual Party, a fitting topper for the Disney, Rancho, and Drunkard affairs of past years, was (A) an Hawaiian deal called a Wah-Hoo-Luau, and (B) an explosive success. Guys in Hawaiian shirts hanging outside the pants, and Dolls in "cool informal summer wear" (I quote the intriguing Almon-Jacoby announcements) crowded around the thatched bar of the shadowy candlelit Hula Hut early one late June evening, eventually moved inside for dinner, and kept the decibels bouncing from then on out. The Hawaiians staged some good acts, what with a sword dance and like that, but their show was stolen when retiring President (wrong adjective) Bill Adams '34 stood in this big seashell bathed in orange light and doggedly delivered his annual re- port against all hecklers. He was rewarded with the traditional Dartmouth weathervane, higher education's answer to the television aerial, which Los Angeles sophisticates now recognize as marking the homes of Dartmouth alumni ex-presidents.

In mid-August we teamed with the local alumni of the other Ivy colleges to sponsor the second annual "Back East to School" dance, at which our undergraduates met and mingled with the young women of the Seven College Conference (Smith, Wellesley, etc.), and if they didn't collect some promising addresses it was their own fault. Place, the Palm Terrace Room of the Beverly Hills Hotel; those present, our entire list of undergraduates and sub-freshmen, plus new president Bob Williams '26 and wife Cappie, committeeman Ed Ramsay '35 and Sarah.

In line with the democratic process, it's only right to tell you what officers you voted in for the '51 -'52 season. President, Bob Williams '26; Veep #1, Frank Danzig '37; Veep $2, Dave Boyle '40; Secretary, the big upset, Leon Rothschild '24; Treasurer, Rudy Pacht '35; Assistant Secretary, Chuck Robinson '31; Assistant Treasurer, George Purvis '49. Directors for two years: Bill Adams '34, WillHays '31 (his photographs of the Luau were terrific, as usual), and Ed Ramsay '35. Directors for one year: Howie Almon '22, FrankMcEntee '29, and Cap Palmer '23.

The fall schedule hasn't yet been nailed down, but we hope for a younger-classes picnic and maybe a golf tournament soon, football movie luncheons in season, and of course the big Dartmouth Night dinner in October. See you there.
