It has been our custom to remind the noble breadwinner readers of this column that on the fourteenth day of this month they stand in danger of being transformed into gnarled warts or burning at the stake, if not both. It is fortunate that we can offer you salvation from this potentially horrible fate ... go buy your wife a box of candy and a Valentine's Day card!

The annual good deed thus accomplished, we turn happily to a survey of activities over in...

CUPID'S CORNER

Whoop! Halloo! We have a wedding to record for the first time in several moons. The glad tidings dated December 5, 1958, proclaim the marriage of Dick Ribble and Nan Jones Adams in Hollywood, Calif. They are at home at 1326 North Vista Street. Rip is slaving for NBC in their film production department. Presumably he's also managing a few ski jaunts and maintaining an adequate surveillance of the area's Injuns.

What ho! Here's another live item, first of its ilk since early fall. Jim Austin is treading the final fifty-two eighty (walking the last mile, that is) as proved by the November announcement of his engagement to wed Ann Cary Woolfolk of Pittsburgh. Ann is an alumna of Chatham Hall and Connecticut College. Jim's employer and extracurricular activities were not revealed. Steel-towners, please advise.

RATTLE PRATTLE

The annual influx of yuletide greetings, appreciated in and of itself, brings a second blessing in the form of revelations on the blessings brought forth on this continent during the past year. We can report three girls and two lads whose first birthdays will occur later this year.

Eldest of the baby-sans is a daughter born to Bill and Helen Hawkins last May. The lady's name is Angela Marie and is a welcome relief "after two hell raising boys." Bill is divisional sales manager at Consolidated Electrodynamics in California.

A phone call to Archie McAllaster cleared up his comment about number three. The third is David, born October 24. So that you will not share our confusion on the point, number three means there are two other youngsters at the Westport, Conn., homestead, not a total of three in the family. Eldest is Archie Jr. born February 20, 1955, and Sara is the middle member with a birth date of August 1, 1956. Archie has been working for W. C. Pitfield & Co., Inc., in New York's financial district. Specializes in Canadian securities.

Dick Putney says, "See you in 'Sixty" at the end of his note, which is a good comment to make, but the earlier portions are even better. He notes "that Ginny and I have forsaken Ann Arbor's academic atmosphere ... for the hazy hollows of the Hudson, on the banks of which I labor for the Imperial Paper and Color Corp. Alan Kent Putney provided a third mouth to feed on November 15, 1958." This number three, we think, makes only a trio all told in the family. See how confusing it gets though?

Jay and Mary Buck considered their Christmas stocking most pleasantly filled with a bundle of joy named Susan Keatley on December 13. With so little time to get off a note to the North Pole before Santa's trip, she had to ask for help from sister Julie.

Finally, Mary Lou and Harry Van Benschoten had a girl on December 17. The Carnival Queen of 1979 or thereabouts answers to Diana Joy. Two weeks later another important announcement was made to the effect that Harry had been admitted to partnership with Pogson, Peloubet & Co., certified public accountants.

Congratulations to all you fine folk!

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ

John Bowman has been made sales manager for the A & B Travel Agency, Inc., in New Haven. He's in charge of tours, group travel, industrial accounts, and sales incentive programs there. Formerly John was assistant sales manager at Southern New England Telephone Co.

Bud Bray is working for the Milwaukee agency of Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. as brokerage consultant and insurance planner. He and his wife, the former Shirley Clark, have a daughter, Sallie, who is three, and an heir, Michael, two years old.

Bowing low and apologizing profusely to Hugh Brower's spouse, Jane, we acknowledge that their canine companion, du Pont, is not "a basset-type hound" as we stupidly identified him a few months ago. "du Pont is a basset hound pure and simple," says Meach. Okay, we'll turn in our K. C. application blank anonymously and brush up on doggy data one of these days.

John Moulton is now teaching at Reed College in Portland, Ore.... Jim Farmer passed his National Boards in radiology this fall and started in practice with a Cleveland firm, Hill and Thomas, on January first. The brood includes two boys and three girls currently .... Bush Keeler has a year and a half to go at Virginia Seminary. With three children and five pups, Bush advises some of the latter are available at reasonable rates on a permanent loan basis.

Jim and Bunny Myers are enjoying all the charm of Jolly Okie England these days. Jim is comptroller of Campbell Soups Ltd. - England and a director of Campbell's Soups S. p. A. in Italy where they spent six weeks last summer. Three young lads in a photo are all smiles and obviously chortling in cockney accents by now.

Stan Schneider is manager and production chief of Ace Service and Supply Company in High Point, N, C. He's looking for Tarheel brethren and we trust any in the area will drop him a line at P. O. Box 667.

Cal Sia completed his residency last July and opened his own practice of pediatrics in Honolulu where he's treating healthy babies and worried mothers. There are two boys in the clan with a report in the Rattle Prattle section due soon.

Bill Pulley got his M.B.A. from Miami (Ohio) a year ago after the night school grind and states that 1950 members are scarce in his neck of the woods. Glimpsed from time to time, however, are the Gordon Hoods and Tom and Jean Sours. Little Pulleys include Chip, six; Mary Lynn, four; and Jeff, not quite one year old.

As you all know, it is strictly against the rules to place any "personal" notices in a column such as this, so we cannot honor the request of Dick Ceely to publish, "Ned Weir! All is forgiven." Trust you understand our predicament, Dick. Nice to know you had the comfort of such companions as BenShaver, John Cobb, Joe Magoon and EdTuck at the Harvard game last autumn. You forgot to reveal your own doings, though.

With mixed emotions we conclude these ramblings by telling you that Tom O'Connell has passed the chairmanship of the Class of 1950 on to Bob McIlwain upon concurrence of your Executive Committee. "Crash" will hold office until our next reunion and. of course, is a wonderful choice to head up our horde. We're sorry to lose Tommy's talents to the U. N. Technical Assistance Board in Quito, Ecuador, however, and hope he can square away enough problems down there in time to join us at the tenth in 1960! Where all may read and nod their heads in agreement, we'd like to say thanks to Tom for a job well done over the past four years. Hurry back, fella, we can use you, too! For your information, Bob Mcllwain can be reached care of McKinsey & Co., Co East 42 Street, New York City 17.

That about wraps it up till March, gang. Unless someone can help us scrape together some tidbits for broadcast, we are thinking of giving this space up for a paid political announcement or the picture of a Varga girl next month. While that would be a decided improvement, some of you must be egotistical enough to want to see your names in print. Let us hear from you!

And now, this is the lonesome polecat.
