Dartmouth Night was a terrific hit in Gotham this year. In fact it held Jim McKeon. assistant Club manager, till 4 A.M. "They just wouldn't leave," moaned Jim. "Everybody was having too good a time."
Jim was speaking to entertainment chairman Allan "Dynamo" Dingwall '42, who had been away over the October 19th weekend. Allan, of course, was all smiles. He and the other entertainment wizards who comprise the committee, Scott Matthews '42; board member John Crandell '40; and MauriceDampier '43, who was chairman a few years ago himself; had a hunch when they were planning this party that a free beer. . . ladiesinvited scheme would prove plenty enticing. It sure did.
About 300 in all gathered for the evening's fun. (Seems that the committee's decision to include Dartmouth wives, dates and sweethearts at this traditionally stag affair was a popular one.) There was no formal program. It was simply a night to-do a little "reunioning" ... a little imbibing perhaps ... and some extra-loud singing, of course. The tempos for the latter were a la accordian.
About men you know.... Phil Brooks '43 was married to Ellen Monroe September 29. Eddie Dooley '27, Mayor of Mamaroneck, and Myles Lane '28, appointed U.S. Attorney, Southern District, received joint newspaper acclaim recently. The article made nostalgic flferenceao their teamed-up gridiron exploits of the Twenties. Rev. Paul D. Collins '33 stopped overnight at the Club during October. Bob Su],livan '37 got married September 22 to Barbara Nash in Essex Fells, N. J. Thirty-three men became new members of the Club in the past month-and-a-half, beginning with P. C. Belknap '21 and going through the alphabet to Jay Wolf '51.
