A Gala Green Holiday: As might be expected with Chairman Al "Hold 'er Newt!"Dingwall '42 at the controls, the annual tea dance at the Club, on December 28, was another four-ply dinger. Some 300 guys and dolls cavorted to the tunes of Alvy West and his rhythm boys. The list of those present would read like a Who's Who of Manhattan; suffice it to say that those who missed it (and they were few) missed something.

It Matters Not, etc "It's how you played the game," says Captain Ort "Prideof the Pacific" Hicks 'zi of his hot-and-cold squash crew. The "B" team record of 10 wins against 30. losses has some of the alumni reminiscing of the Golden Era of two years back, when the Whiz Kids swept to the Metropolitan title; rumors of re-emphasis and subsidization are gathering force nightly in the Bar. Recently the boys have belted out Downtown A.C., but taken it on the chin from Yale, Harvard, and Bayside. Bob Mann '34 has sent his opponents reeling away muttering to themselves; otherwise incon- sistency has been the rule. However, note that the "A" championship was clinched by the University Club, sparked by Dick Rem-sen Jr. '42; they just nosed out Racquet and Tennis Club, powered by Whitey Mays '3B. Bobby Reeve '3B, the national squash tennis king, led the "A" racquets team at the potent NYAC. We've still got you, Ort!

Club President Harry Enders '29 and Man- ager Ed Redman 'O6 have announced the plans for the Club Scholarship, to cover the costs of four years in Hanover for a worthy man. The money will come out of the op- erating income of the Club, and not from any dues, subscriptions or assessments. Final selection by the College will be made from among those nominated in each region in the New York area. Regional chairmen and their addresses are available at the Club and in the Dartmouth Club News; recom- mendations should be made as soon as pos- sible.

Of the questionnaires for the purpose of determining the membership's ideas as to how to make best use of the Club, sent out in December, more than 700 have already been returned. Results should make good reading to Karl Pittelkow '29, chairman of the House Committee.

Save the Date: April 5 has been chosen as the date for the big Spring Reunion Dance for all Dartmouth alumni in the New York area. Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester alumni associations are co- operating with the New York club in making this affair, to be held at the City Center, the "must" of the year. Tickets are on sale in all alumni areas; if you plan to be within a hundred miles of Manhattan, plan to be there.

The annual Freshman Fathers' Dinner, held at the Club on January 31, was a real wow. Chairman Don McCall '27 did a great job in lining up the sumptuous affair. Club President Enders, as M.C., presided over a gathering that was well in excess of 100 fathers and hosts. Dean Stearns Morse spoke of the hazards encountered by every first- year man in Hanover (how well we remem- bered!), and of the way that the present col- lege body is standing up under the pressures of the Current tensions (how proud we were). Also at the rostrum was Professor "Fergie" Murch who described the proposed Honor System and the maturity of thought in the present Undergraduate Council, of which this is but one indication.

Wedding bells have broken up the old gangs of Sam Boyce 111 '5l (Jan. 12), Lt. Lan-sing Heed '47 (Jan. 5), and Bob Sanderson '46 (Nov. 24); recently engaged is Bob Martin'46, now Assistant Prosecutor in the office of Myles Lane '2B. Nice knowin' you, fellas.

AP flash from San Francisco reports that the head of the Edward Butts Sales Company is now—guess who? Ed Butts 'lB, of course.

What Better Proof? We keep on saying it: When near Manhattan, drop in at 37 E. 39th St., and meet those you know. Item: 53 count 'em, 53—new members added between October 20 and December 21. Need we say more?
