Sure seems good to find the old pro, JoeCunningham, back at the typewriter pumping out Tithe Man, there's a guy what plays with loaded keys!!

Don't forget that Pete Fitzherbert, our new Class Agent, his co-workers and the aforementioned brother Cunningham are busting their strings with the fervent hope that each '36er will underwrite a piece of the 1951 Alumni Fund. Let's all of us bear in mind, too, that whether you give can be just as important as the size of the contribution.

Our predecessor, Norb Hof man, bless him, writes of a cocktail party held in December at the Dartmouth Club in New York for classmates and their gals from the immediate vicinity. Joining the merriment were: The Paul Guibords, John Wiesmans, MonnyGreenbaums, Paul Lynches, Dick Jewells,Chuck Sims, Norm Sherrys, Allen Phipps,Ed Brooks, Dick Dorrance, and charming date, the Art Wassermans, Boyce Price, Norb and Pic and—to the surprise and pleasure of the assemblage—Bob Ireland. It was a case of the map of California all over Ireland, though, as Bob is mixed up out there in movies and radio and had tripped it East from the land of Grable and Russell for the purpose of surveying this business of television; seems the jovial red-head hasn't changed perceptibly save for an excusable pound or two plus.

Bay City, Michigan's welcome committee left a basket of goodies a couple of months ago at Hal Palmer's new house in their fair city; Hal has transferred from Chevrolet's Detroit office to be Assistant Comptroller at the Bay City plant Johnny Proctor was perfectly happy to part with an ailing appendix recently—lost only a few days from his administrative duties at one of the research labs at M.I.T. Starting last March, Charles Edward Proctor lined up with John agin Geraldine, age three, and wife Alice; incidentally, this young Ed guy, should he be so inclined, could become the sth generation of the Proctor clan to attend Dartmouth, the first having been a member of the class of 1791!

In case you failed to catch the write-up in the January MAGAZINE—.Eddie Chamberlain was named Executive Officer of Dartmouth College on December 13. Eddie outlines the assignment to us thusly: "I gather that in general the Office of the Executive Officer is a place where Dartmouth business which is not ordinarily covered in the regular offices, such as that of the Deans, the Director of Admissions, the Librarian, the Director of Athletics, and the like, is picked up. At the moment it looks as though the big job will be trying to find out whether or not we are going to have a civilian or service undergraduate body—or both." We're glad to have you aboard, Eddie, and 'midst all the problems, the best of good sailin' t' ya.

The old professor, Dr. Len Mead, has come up with more titles and responsibilities than Carter has pills—among other things, the genial Len is Research Coordinator of Tufts College and Chairman of the Psychology Department, Assistant to the President and in his spare time, heads up a panel of the National Research Development Board, in Washington,

D. C. This latter deal, as we get it, keeps Len rattling or flying back and forth from the Capitol for the purpose of inventorying the scientific and business brains in these here United States. A recent inventory by Len and Jean at the Winchester (Mass.) homestead turned up Chip, nine, Phillip, seven, and sister Susan awaiting her first birthday.

Last month we noted Sherm Peabody's change of address and now we can quote him directly, datelined the USS Bataan: "Am sitting on an aircraft carrier in Tokyo Bay waiting for the wind to subside so we can weigh anchor and tie up. Saw Fujiyama thru the port-hole this afternoon. Left Marjorie at 555 "I" Avenue, Coronado, Calif., where we have bought a house. Would like to see any '36ers there between wars or at least transPacific cruises. Did an appendectomy on the way out." .... One of the pregnant bachelors at Reunion, Kirk Liggett, tells all in his Xmas card—twas a boy, Kevin by name, on 8 August; he's filling in like an end, says Kirk, while brother Charley continues with dimensions of a blocking back. Kirk also questions us, and we pass on a painless and proven method of cleaning three weeks accumulated work off the office desk.

.... some folks stay young—but think of the price From Schenectady Bob Kittell reports he's in Radio and TV Tube Sales for General Electric: wife Dorothy aided by Joan, eight, and Linda, four, keep things going chez Kittell in Scotia, N. Y.

Unless his itinerary was altered, Bill Reed, menswear buyer for Boston's Jordan Marsh Company, sailed the middle of January for Britain and the Continent to pick up a few knickknacks for 'later sale to fastidious New England males; Bill swears he heard that Jack Matzinger is now merchandising men's raiment in his own establishment in La Jolla, Calif., having pulled up stakes at Carson Pirie Scott Edith and Al Doolittle have begun to ponder the problem of college for Bob, Dave and Paul who could all hit Hanover at the same time; Al's an engineer on power plant construction for Jackson and Moreland, Boston engineering firm and quite happy momentarily to be estimating jobs from headquarters as opposed to maybe doing a twoyear on-the-scene stint in Iran or some equally enticing U. S. suburb.

Mighty pleased to get cards from so many of you guys and gals during the holidays just past.... just hope we didn't overlook any notes of general class interest thereon Last reminder to parent-for-the-first-time Dick Tucker—don't forget Judith Ann, 8-28-50, on the long form!
