I've heard about Eleanor penning her choice offerings in planes, trains and trolleys. I'm trying it on the James Whitoomb Riley ... a reputedly "smooth and dependable" courier between Cincinnati and Chicago. Have had little success so far (Kankakee, Ind.) but at least have reasonable assurance that I've located the Stone of Scone... tacked onto the axle three feet below this seat.

Bob Colwell had a recent kidney operation, handled it very nicely, and is now back at work. He and Ginger paid a visit to the newly wed John Bakers a couple of weeks ago, and pay glowing tribute to the bride. The picture of Pat in the New York Tribune attests to their good taste. John and Pat (Fallon) were married in Pittsfield, Mass., January 27, eased off for a tour of Bermuda, and are now back in.New York, where John is a resident physician in obstetrics and gynecology at the French Hospital, and Pat is clinical instructor and social director at the Misericordia Hospital School of nursing.

The Ted Colivells have brought out the pink bunting again this time for little Sally. They've just bought a house in New Rochelle. Pat and Charlie Martus have also become New Rochelle home owners. Their third youngster Bob was born November 25 the only bright light in that otherwise tempestial day.

"Moose" Musser reports that Dave and Marion MacGregor have come in to fortify the social life of Manchester. Dave is with the Textron Cos.

Had a nice letter from Lt. Bill Trier, now pushing pills aboard the USS Midway. He reported the arrival of his second son, Peter Louis, last October 17 at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., just before he packed his sea bag. While home at Christmas, Bill visited with Bill Gatlin, now interning at Grasslands, and with Walt Price, pediatrics resident at Walter Reed Hospital. The war situation doesn't seem as disturbing to Bill as his Navy basketball team . .. they haven't even been "approached" yet.

Ed Crawford Hills put it quaintly: "Read that Bucky Brandt is family man of the class which is something I can't dispute, but I am submitting myself as father with least effort THREE IN ONE YEAR!" I have a picture of the twins Jeff and Jim .. . cute as buttons, but we can't publish it because the old man didn't get in the act. "Buff" said he would have sent a photo of their little daughter but "at the time she was working." That four dependent business is going to prove a bitter vetch to the 77th "Statue of Liberty" Division, which, I understand, has laid in a new supply of purple hearts. They gave him a hatful last time. He and Frannie are both well.

Frank Davis, director of public relations at Davis Elkins College, sent in a picture of "Bud"Isner's twins Dave and Margaret two more little wonders, but again we can't publish because poppa was away hustling a buck. Bud has been doing a bang-up job managing a large Elkins bakery and making a good name for himself. He and Frank are just about holding down the '44 representation in West Virginia—unless lawyer Ed Knight is still in Charleston.

We've just had word that Joe Vancisin, assistant to Coach Ozzie Cowles at the University of Minnesota, and pretty Elizabeth Ann Butler of Ames, la., will tread down the magic carpet this spring.

Brad and Mary Elena Long have returned from Bermuda, and are temporarily living in Boston while Brad completes his work at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. They will move to San Francisco in July.

Ben Jones is living up to that homburg he wears. Insurance man for the Ralph K. Lindop Agency, Monarch Life, in N.Y.C., Ben was the number one producer in 1950, both for the Agency and the company—paid for $1,049,886.

Also from the financial pages comes word that West Shell has been appointed sales manager of the Myers Y. Cooper Cos., in Cincinnati. He is also a director of the Standard Castings Cos. there and a vice president of the Miami Builders, Inc., Miami, Fla.

John Berry of Dayton, 0., is another one of those good planners who have well-developed business connections in Florida that usually come to boil of urgency during the darkest weeks of January.

I'm sorry to report that Fred Kennedy has been recalled to active service as ist Lt. in the Marine Corps. His wife Phyllis intimated that there might have been more of our boys in on that call, for when Fred took his physical, he said it was like being at a "class reunion." Fred and Phyllis have a little five-month-old daughter Lesley.

Fritz and Joan Hier are back in Germanyor, at least, Fritz is there. Joan is a stewardess for the Flying Tiger Airline and could be in Berlin, Bombay or Bankok—making it pretty rough on the supper schedule.

Bernie and Kirk Bassett are now three. Quentin Herbert just made Christmas, was born December 24. They are in Columbus, Ind., where Kirk is with the Hamilton Mfg. Corp.... John J. Murphy has joined the law firm of Parker, Coulter, Daley and White in 805t0n.... Bill Ard's first novel is on the stands and he has two more on the way—he is doing promotional work for the Hal Home Cos., in New York.. . .John Eaton, B.B.D.0. huckster, stopped by several weeks ago following a visit with a Chicago client. Doing a fine job. Saw his picture and some of his work on one of the leading trade journals this week.

Jack Riley, Frank Parker, Art Saul and the Bob Wileys were in Hanover recently. The Wileys are now down at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.
