With the ending of spring, we held our annual picnic on June 21 at Tindie's ValleyForge Farm. The day of the social was miserably cold and drizzly so that only 40 out of the 100 anticipated guests attended. With more than enough refreshments and lunches for all; a soft ball game, made more official by umpire "Mac" Rollins 'll (endowed with a seemingly lax conscience and a high regard for the fairer sex); and much conversation, the outing was enjoyed by all followers. We are indeed indebted to Jim Tindle '36 and his family and their gracious hospitality for a delightful afternoon in their "back yard."
Our Softball team, that group of hardy souls who weekly endure aches and pains to better forget the passing of lime, returned to action this spring. Age, seemingly a mystery to JohnMiller '45 and fought to the wire by LouYoung '41, caught up with Bill Olmstead '38 as he broke a brittle rib the real hurt came with the admonishment of his doctor. JackYoung '47, the team manager, has reported that the team played .500 ball this spring where is the younger talent?
Jack Heston '28 has advised that the Philadelphia area will again be well represented in Hanover by more than 40 lads entering with the class of '56. Sincere thanks are due to those alumni interviewers who share the responsibility in the final selection.
We anticipate the pleasure of your company at our weekly luncheons every Monday at noon-time. We share the club facilities offered by the Princeton Club at Camac and Locust Street just east of 13th on Locust Street. Hope to see you around.
