The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia opened 1953 with the 46th annual dinner meeting on January 29 at the Engineers Club. The business meeting was attended by approximately 35 alumni and called to order at 6:00 P.M. by our president, Vic Smith '17. The principal business was the election of officers and members-at-large of the executive committee. The following alumni were re-elected: Vic Smith '17, president; Jim Tindie '36, vice president; Bud Jopson '45, secretary. Ed Byrkit '47 was elected treasurer; Bill Olmstead '38 and Lou Young '41 were elected members-at-large.

Bill MacKinney '28, our former treasurer, served several years and is to be thanked for a difficult job well done. We are in the black, thanks to Bill and his valiant efforts. The term of Bill Housel '42 expired this year. We thank him for his interest and consistent attendance as well as for the work he did toward making many of our social gatherings successful.

Jack Heston '28, alumni councillor for this area, brought us up to date on various statistics relative to enrollment for the coming year as well as comparative data percentage- wise between the class of '55 and '56. It seems '56 offers a bicycle racer. Jack spends a great deal of time in behalf of the College and the alumni. Those who work with Jack can certainly appreciate the splendid job he is doing.

It was our pleasure to have as our guest speaker Justin Stanley '33, vice president of the College. He spoke to us of various problems with which the College is confronted and emphasized the importance of the close association of the alumni with the College.

NOTES TO YOU: John Flanagan '28 made a special effort to get as many as possible of that class out tor the meeting and the results were successful. Celebrating their 25th reunion this year, '28 had an auspicious start. Dick Frame '28 provided his professional services and with the help of George Farrington '12 succeeded in getting a picture of the entire '28 group. If there is as much gaiety in June for '28, it should be a grand success. Vic Smith '17, and Vick Smith Jr. '45 and Hugh Ken-worthy '11, Hugh Ken-worthy Jr. '42 made up the traditional father-son representation. One of the more enjoyable aspects of such a gathering is the greeting of a long lost friend, such as was noted when Jack McAvoy '28 spotted Dutch Schroedel '25. Dick Frame '28 took a picture of the officers of the Club with JustinStanley '33, our guest from Hanover. All in all, it was a most delightful gathering and good fellowship enjoyed by all who were with us.

"Mac" Rollins '11 has been ill but is reported making progress. Bob Coltman '32 dropped by for lunch recently prior to his trip to the North Country for his annual skiing date. The Rev. Paul Kintzing '46 met with us recently. He is assistant to the Rector at St. Marks Church in Philadelphia.

On March 30 we will gather again at the Philadelphia Cricket Club for our Glee Club concert and dance, at which time Dartmouth families enjoy an evening of song and dance. This is an open invitation for all Dartmouth families and their guests.

Our weekly luncheons are at the Dartmouth Club Mondays-Camac and Locust Streets.
