Summer begins for the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia with the ending of the Softball season and a gala outing to which all alumni and undergraduates with their families and friends are invited. From this reunion time to September, there is no noticeable activity.
It is disturbing news but nevertheless seemingly true that there are no young men graduating from Dartmouth living in the Philadelphia area, who are interested in playing Softball. This activity, sponsored to create interest among the young in heart, did not do the association justice this year, as we dropped from third to last place in our Inter-Club League. The League includes teams of various country clubs and alumni teams representing the Ivy League alumni group. There are ten teams in the League. We have had promise of relief, so that the team manager Jack Young '46 can look forward to a brighter '54.
Through the graciousness of Mrs. Robert K. Tindle, Valley Forge Farm was again the delightful setting for our summer reunion this year. Eleanor and Jim Tindle '36 were hostess and host for a most enjoyable afternoon for the more than one hundred alumni and undergraduates attending. It was particularly gratifying to see the large number of undergraduates especially a group from the Class of '56. We hope it's a trend.
The following is a tentative schedule of forthcoming activities of our association:
October 3 - Dartmouth-Navy Game October 16 - Dartmouth Night November 21 - Princeton Game December 29 - Dutch-Treat Luncheon,
Alumni and Undergraduates January '54 - Annual Meeting April 10 - Glee Club Concert
