The Woodstock-Hanover fall get-together of 1919 was, your Sec. hopes, fully covered in the Smoke Signal. To repeat, it was the largest class gathering we have ever had, outside of reunion, and a fine time was had by all 43 '19ers who attended all or some of the festivities.

A nice note from Avedis Miridjanian of New York tells the Sec. that, "Your annual greeting card arrived on time as regularly as clockwork for which I hasten to thank you. This is a great proof of the solidarity of the Dartmouth spirit which binds the class —in fact the Alumni so closely that even time cannot destroy but on the contrary, it strengthens it."

Ernie Earley, '18's sterling secretary, checks in with, "Bill Stedman is becoming a grandfather so many times now that he's getting younger himself taking it in his stride, although the first one really did make him stroke his long grey beard. His daughter Ann had a baby on the 23rd (Sept.) and now Bill is relaxing again. Incidentally, the 'boy from Treeeemont St.' who dazzled the girls along the white lights of Boston in his youth, is on the board of directors of the ANA American National Advertisers and Will's advice and counsel is given great respect." Thanks, Ernie, for the dope on Bill and congratulations to one of '19's leading advertising men.

A new grandfather and grandma, the RayAdams' of Springfield, Vt., write that, "While it is not particularly noteworthy, it is nevertheless a fact that I have joined the ranks of the increasing number of grandfathers through the arrival on August 3 of William Kelsey Adams to the household of F. Ray Jr. in Glens Falls, N. Y. From present indications, he looks as though he might be husky enough to obtain more athletic renown than either his father or I ever did."

Nick Sandoe, Chairman of the Alumni Committee on Bequests, and our class chairman, Rog Clark, of Pittsburgh, were in Hanover over the weekend of October 3, attending a meeting of the representatives of the post-25th reunion classes, on this most long range program of bequests to the College.

Attending the West Point game on a beautiful October afternoon were Ed and JessieFiske, Paul and Catherine Halloran, FredDaley, Bill Stedman, Stan and Alice Mauk (those Mauks really covered a lot of ground on their trip East this fall), Paul and AdelaideClements, Ken and Marge Huntington, Winand Harriet Batchelder, Clarence and HeleneBut.tenzueiser, Nick and Dot Sandoe, Lou andMrs. Stone, Lou Munro and Fat and HonJdckson. There may have been other '19ers present not spotted by our scout.

Fall visitors at the Inn in Hanover included Chad and Mrs. Chadwell of Washington, Boband Mrs. Proctor of Beverlv, Mass.. and JackReilly of Lowell, who comes to Hanover frequently these days to see his two sons, Jack Jr. '54 and Phil '55.

Brooklyn reporting, from the office of HalParsons "First -thing I look for on July 29 is the large envelope and my birthday was complete because I found the greetings from the class of 1919. I do so appreciate the good wishes and hope that I will be around to receive many more of them."

Under the heading "Cost Accountants to Meet in Portland, Me." it is noted that "Kenneth C. Bevan, factory manager of the Tyre Rubber Co., Andover, Mass., will be the guest speaker at the meeting of the Southern Maine chapter, National Association of Cost Accountants, at the Eastland Hotel in Portland. His topic will be 'Cost Department, A Tool of Factory Management.' Casey is a past President of the Boston Chapter, Society for the Advancement of Management."

What happens June 19, 20 and 21 next year - 1919's advanced 35th reunion in Hanover and your friends from '18 and '17 will be on hand at the same time. It should be one of the best and largest ever and Ray Legg, chairman of the reunion committee, is working hard to make the program a most enjoyable one.

And now, although it seems a little early as these notes are being penned (November 1), a most Merry Christmas to all '19ers and their families, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. And thanks from the Secretary to all of you who send in news that makes this column and the Smoke Signal go.
