First of all, Holiday Greetings to all of you and best wishes and good luck for 1956. And thanks to those of you who take time to write the Sec and give him some news of what you are doing. If there were only some way that more of you could be persuaded to take pen in hand, or dictate a letter, there would be some new names in this column and the Smoke Signal. What your correspondent doesn't know, he cannot put into print. The Woodstock-Hanover weekend was a great success with a large attendance, and we already have the Ski-Hut signed up for next fall for the luncheon before the game. The date is October 20 and the game is with Holy Cross. Also, we will see if the Woodstock Inn will set aside adequate reservations for us as they did this year. Details of the fine gathering of '19ers will appear in a forthcoming Smoke Signal which should reach you before this issue of the MAGAZINE arrives.

A few news items: Marie Drane sent greetings to the class from Rome, where Marie and her mother are sojourning on a tour. It arrived in Hanover just in time for the Woodstock outing and was a greeting to the class. Adele and Bri Greeley were in Florida during early October and say that they are enjoying their first visit to the Sunshine State, hitting St. Petersburg and Miami and the East Coast.

Among recent visitors to the Hanover Inn were the Louis Aptekers from Haverhill, Mass. They arrived a week before the big Woodstock affair - how about better timing next year, Louis, and make it October 20? Bud Welsh sends a card from Honolulu saying: "Thought of you all last weekend - the game must have been excellent (Note, the Harvard game, that is). I attended the Honolulu Club on Dartmouth night - very enjoyable." Note from Ray Adams, our sterling class treasurer:

"Sorry that I can't be at Woodstock, but my duties as Grand Master tie me up at this time of the year. Some of the boys, particularly HenryHolley and Jigger Merrill might be interested to know that I received the 33rd degree in Detroit last month."

At the Yale Bowl for the annual game with the Elis your Sec noted that Lou and FranGarrison, Lou the gent responsible for the new birthday cards which are creating a lot of comment, all good; Ken and Marge Huntington;Harry and Lil Colwell, just back from their European tour; Fat Jackson; Fred andGinny Celce; and Paul and Catherine Halloran were among the crowd who enjoyed a nice outing, period.

New grandparents: A son John Chipman Dean born October 2 to John Harrison Dean and Ruth Chipman Dean of Hingham, Mass., has as grandparents our own Johnnie Chipman and Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Smith Dean of Hingham. Ed Warnke, one of the sparks of the Long Island Alumni Association, notes that:

"It was nice to see some of the old gang in Hanover last weekend. I am sorry that I could not make Woodstock Saturday night. As you know we had reservations at Lake Morey for Friday and Saturday but after having spent Friday night there and freezing, we felt it better to get on our way down south right after the game. I just want you to know that the time we did spend with our class was entirely enjoyable."

San and Jane Treat sent greetings to the class at Woodstock and regretted that they could not be there. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you '19ers.
