If we hadn't decided to take in the Columbia game, we wouldn't be sitting here trying to organize a couple of frozen thumbs into their usual flying search for the upper case i's but we did and we'll now be lucky to make it before ye ed blows the whistle. But it was almost worth freezing to death to see the Dartmouth team, supported by one of the immortal canines of Hanover, heap the ultimate indignities upon the favorites of Luigi Piccolo.

We thereby got a chance, too, to sit near Ike Besse and swap a few notes, to say nothing of the what seemed to be mutually surprising meeting with Mayo Cohen in Baker just before the game. As the Toots Shor of Hanover and proprietor of Mac's (adv.) might put it, "If you guys had discovered this place had a library 20 years ago, you might have done better." At least he might have said that to ye sec if not to Judge Cohen.

It was house-party weekend, too, and, gosh, what young girls those fellows take to the parties nowadays! But let's on to the mail.

Other HANOVER VISITORS, as recorded in the all-seeing eye of the Inn register, have been Bill Haist from Bridgeport, Conn, (wonder what the new record for that Bridgeport-Hanover trip is), Lt. Col. and Mrs. GrantHealey from East Riverdale, Md„ Mr. andMrs. Bob Williamson from Rochester, N. Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Al Marks from that place in which is located the team which placed second in the World Series this year.

The address changes tell us this month that Bill Ely is now teaching at the Buckley Country Day School in Great Neck, L. I., and that Bud Clabaugh has re-located from Winnetka, Ill., to Arlington, Va.

This month, but for the great class spirit shown by our eminent predecessor in this space, the box score in VITAL STATISTICSfor the first time might have read "no hits, noruns, no errors." Possibly the happy couplegave no thought to the MAG, but our thanksanyway to the lovely bride, Suzanne LyonsJackson, for picking October 18 as her wedding day, and while Emily Post might notapprove of this, that typical Dartmouth combination of modesty and frankness compels usto state that the previously identified younglady didn't do at all badly in picking a husband, either.

We find in the mail, also, the DartmouthClub of Boston announcement of the annualdinner on March 4. It's a little early to askthe little woman for a three-hour pass, butwe might give a little thought to promotingsome samples and gathering in tribute to theonetime glory of the boys from Boston. Weused to make a lot of noise once. Of coursethat was

20 YEARS AGO, when ... about this time Sammy Fishman and Bob Michelet were given All-American honorable mention on the AP team .. . awarded D's in soccer were Brabbee,Cowie, Watts, Wells, Werner, and in crosscountry, Lepreau ... the Juniors won the college touch football finals with Wilmot, Snow and Menchel starring Freshman sports, exclusive of football, were dropped in an economy move. ... Gordon Ferrie Hull was up to his whatsis in a Vox Pop argument on prohibition with one who was tentatively identified as a humorist, Corey Ford.... GooseGoss starred in the first game of the basketball season in which he played with Stangle,Kraszewski and Edwards against the Harvard Independents... the Deutschen Studenten Verein elected to membership O. M. Cohn,M. B. Foster, F. Sanborn and C. M. Vail. .. and Phil Glazer wound up in Dick's House with a slight concussion after playing in an AA intra-fraternity basketball game (Dekes, no doubt).

Ye Treas. has, now some weeks ago, strained his meager office staff, to say nothing of the class stamp account, to the utmost to present each and everyone of our lucky classmates with a bill for class dues. If you think this is a plea for dues payments, you're nuts, because what's money only the stuff Gilbert pays the bills with. But if you haven't yet paid, just turn over that bill and notice the beautiful expanse of white on the reverse side which at the risk of our very lives, we have refused as advertising space to the Encyclopedia Americana, Time and Life magazines, and Squirrel Fletcher's pool room. That space, fellow Indians, is reserved for comments, whether sprightly, damning or dull, just so long as they're yours all yours, and happy is ye sec who can look upon such a gorgeous snowfall each month.

For instance, from among those early under the wire, we can determine that Bob Smith, contrary to some reports, was not driven out of Monroe, N. Y., after the '34 gathering last June... that Dick Gruen's foundation in Pleasantville, N. Y., has blossomed into a full grown house and, having given up on hair, he is now growing a lawn. If you happen to be in Pleasantville checking on your ReadersDigest subscription, drop in on Dick and Mary ...and that Hank Werner, after a respectable period of mourning since last November, with his wife joined the Peanuts Davies family as the sailing guests of an alumnus of that pseudo-metropolitan university not far from NYC famed for its extremely durable backfields and two extra copies of Ideal Marriage in its library reserved files. Henry also reports visiting with Ray Hulsart and Shirley at their charming home in Chappaqua, attending a series game courtesy of Mr. Dryfoos of the Times, and watching Jerry Danzig direct and Stan Silverman assist in TV's CrimeSyndicated (Jerry also directs the Stork Club show on Saturday nights).

This is the month when we must now pull up short to list those sturdy souls who stood up to be counted when needed the most. Their number is not large but the accomplishment is. We'll hope to see you all next year!
