We were recently reading our copy of the College Catalog for the years 1901 and 1902, the year after our graduation and it was most interesting to note the number of classmates back on the campus for graduate work. They included Bert Briggs, Paul Eckstorm,Capt. French, Jim Higgins, Arthur Redman,Harold Sibley and Johnnie Ward who were taking their second year at Tuck School. At the Thayer School were Jack Andrews,Charlie Chase, Bill Crowell, Zeke Cudworth,Eddie Hunter, Squash Mclntyre, SwampyMarsh, Frankie Newhall, Deacon Rugg,Steve Stevens and Al True, all working for their C.E. degree. Tommie Remsen was back for his first year at Thayer School. BunkerBishop, Gardy Cobb and Harlan Curtis were second year medics, while Dearborn was taking his first year at Medical School. Among undergraduate students we find Briggs specializing in Economics and Banking, Hoppy in Economics and Walter Young in History. In the Graduate Department of Pedagogy are listed George French, German: FredGentleman, Mathematics; Bill Hinckley, Mathematics and Physics; Tom Mason, Latin and French; and Whitcomb, French and Italian. In addition to their graduate work, Hoppy was serving as secretary to Dr. Tucker, Eddie Hunter was assistant to Mr. McKenzie and Acting Superintendent of Buildings and Walter Young was an assistant in the History
Department. Stan Qua was recently awarded the Good Citizen award of the Brotherhood Congregation Beth Israel of Maiden by Judge Lewis Goldberg of the Superior Court at the Synagogue auditorium in Maiden. Stan's findings and presentation of evidence regarding the incidents arising from the land taking in Uxbridge, Mass., owned by the Waucantuck Mills has been received with acclaim throughout the State. The Worcester Evening Gazette of February 7 carries an editorial, saying
"Judge Qua has produced a masterpiece of clear, cogent and just discussion of facts, tendencies, and deductions covering a most intricate case." The District Attorney and the Attorney General of the State were involved. The Gazette further states, . . We have in the public service a man of such penetration of mind and capacity for judicial analysis and judgment as the report proves Justice Qua to be."
