Our tenth reunion won't be until next year ... but realistically Spring of 1953 marks the decade milestone when most of us had left Hanover. I think you'll be interested in noting where some of the hot dogs were ten years ago at this time:

Chuck Foster was out at Buckley Field, Colo., studying armament on pursuit ships and bombers.. .. Ronnie King, a British subject, was a sub-Looie in the Royal Canadian Navy.... Ham Rown was sweating out his Marine wings, scheduled for Patrol Boat duty. ... Will Sutherland, down at Ft. Belvoir, questioning the wisdom of becoming an explosives expert. . .. Buzz Bensinger at Nashville in the Air Corps with Charlie Pappas,Fred Ranking and Ist Looie Wilbur Johnson....Al Rose, Tony Frothingham, Wally Ericson and Bob Sunblad were sent to M.I.T. to get smarter...

After completing pre-flight at Maxwell Field, the AAE Dartmouth Squadron including Bob Holman, Ja Densmore, Ham Bates,Red Peabody and Hank Lindell were at Jackson, Tenn., for primary flight training.... Bud Zetterburg was down that way at Camp Forrest sweating it out as an artilleryman on the 155's. .. . Dick Backus down at Selman Field, La., on guard one night running into Bill McCarthy in the latrine at 5 bells.... Don Warner at Craig Air Fekl in Alabama with the Finance Dept. and no good broke. ... Many of the Air Corps boys found themselves back in school instead of the wild blue . . . among them were Hap Allen at Washington and Jefferson, John Eaton, Bill Hinson and Bill Hirons at Michigan State (with 2200 coeds), Dick Wilson at Davidson College, BillTrease and Don Sheridan at Elon College, N. C., Harry Davis, Ed Bailey and Jack Jenness at the premeteorology school at the University of lowa, and Jim Bodine and RogFeldman at Syracuse.

Ave Clark was over in London and making headlines with his bombing exploits.... KevGough had just soloed for the first time.... Fred Mills and John Mulliken found themselves Cavalry officers out at Fort Riley.... Jim Hays was down at Chapel Hill Pre-flight with Johnny Lesher and Don Holmes... .Chuck Rendigs had just been commissioned in an anti-aircraft outfit. .. yours truly getting advanced training in pots and pans at Ft. Devens with Dick Whiting, Rock Davidson,Pinky Corroon, Snook Hughes, Bufjy Crawford (Hills), Hose Craig, Irl Rose and JohnRexford. ... Bill Barrett at Navy Pre-Flight with Jack Buck and A. P. Allen.... TomDonahue getting his first stripe and a trip to OCS.. .. Larry Farley with the Yale V-5 outfit learning to fly at Cornell.

Air Cadet Carl Spaeth was pulling some kind of trick angle down at Boca Raton taking his basic training with Moose Musser at the local CC.. .. Charlie Geer, a torpedoman assigned to the DD Nicholson. ... Dick Meyor with the Army Medical Corps waiting to leave New Orleans with a malaria survey outfit. ... Art Kiendl at Yale about to get his gold bars as an AAF Communications Officer.... The Great Lakes Naval Training Station was boasting the presence of "Dock" Schultz, BillHale, Tom Wright and Kind Tom Miner. ...Cy Thompson was a 2nd Looie at Camp Ritchie, and Dick Paul a first, instructing OCS classes in Ft. Benning Bob Murphy just returned stateside after a fast trip to Africa as a navigator on a Flying Fort Jim Elliot just got his bars and a job with the Chemical Warfare Procurement office in Boston... .Ensign Eric Barradale received orders for overseas duty.... Johnny Morse returned to the U.S. after being in Brazil for about ten months as Junior Airport Manager for Pan American Airways Systems.... Wiley Hitch-cock and Phil Brown taking their basic in Atlantic City.... Don Burnham, completing his medical studies at Dartmouth, found time to attend the IC4A track meet in N.Y.C. and ran into Bud Troxell throwing the hammer for West Point and Adolph Schwenk competing in the weight events for Wesleyan.... DickOakley was learning to fly at the AAF training school in Camden, Ark.... Dyer Talley was overseas with the Marines after graduating from Radio School Gus Clucas, radio operator and aerial gunner, recently returned from a four-month carrier cruise (?) Boston Bob McLaughry and Joe McDevitt at Cherry Point polishing up their dive bombing technique for the Marine Air Corps.... Bob's father had left Dartmouth to head up Physical Training at Parris Island Marine DonArnsdorf was sitting in a foxhole in the South Pacific.... Dave McGuire was doing about the same thing....

Via a letter from his father to a Hanover friend we learn that Ed Knight was elected a member of the 'House of Delegates to the present term of the West Virginia Legislature. Mr. Knight (Dartmouth '16) writes, "Ed ran in the Primary entirely without any organizational support or appearing on any slates and was ninth out of about sixty candidates, eleven of which were nominated. In the General Election he ran third on the ticket. He is a Democrat like his grandfather, Edward W. Knight '87, rather than a Republican like his father."

Bob Myers, just named all league forward and elected captain jpf the next year's basketball team, left for V-5 training BillAbrams, an Air Force bombardier had left for overseas duty... . and so forth ad infinitum. I'm sorry that we don't have more space to spot the rest of you fellows... perhaps we can at a later date. Let's hope the next ten years don't go as fast!
