A few months ago I reported to you of the great success Joe Garry had made of his Roaring Brook Dude Ranch at Lake George. I've just had word from Bob Colwell that Joe recently suffered a serious fire which wiped out his bar, the restaurant area, and adjacent rooms. However, according to Bob's informant, "windy Bill" Claps, who is Marshal in Lake George and at one time played in a band at the Dude Ranch, Joe was undaunted by the disaster and not only rebuilt what was lost, but got carried away and went into an expansion to the tune of a reported $400,000. The expansion includes a new swimming pool, adjoined by a rustic restaurant and a two-story cocktail lounge and bar. Sounds like he's taking a page out of Jerry Brody's book.

By the way, while either coming or going to reunion you might want to stop in on Joe at Lake George or Jerry at Gallagher's in New York.

Bob Colwell and his cousin Harry will be at reunion. Incidentally there was an interesting piece in the papers about the growing and continued success of the 70-year-old H. E. Colwell & Sons agency in New Rochelle, of which Bob is Y.P. Bob has been vice president of the Westchester County Association of Insurance agents (214 members) in '60 and '61 and is up again this year which will put him in line for the presidency in '65.

In Wellesley, Mass., Harold Weeks was recently promoted to Securities Manager of the treasury department of the New England Telephone Company. With the company for over 16 years, Harold has served as a treasury cashier in the Portland, Me., and Boston areas.

In a move for the reorganization of the academic administration of the College, President Dickey recently named Len Rieser to the newly created post of dean of faculty for arts and sciences. A member of the department of physics, Len had also served as deputy provost of the College. The basic objective of the reorganization is to coordinate in one office all administrative responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The new dean together with the deans of Tuck, Thayer, and the Medical Schools is responsible to the Provost of the College. In his dual capacity as Deputy Provost, Len will act for the Provost in his absence.

Elsewhere with the hard-working deans, Monte DuVal has his task cut out for him as dean of the Arizona Medical School. Not only must it be organized but built. Under the Kennedy medical education bill the school will receive a multi-million-dollar grant with matching provisions, and Monte's fund raising abilities will be given another trying test.

Art Saul, whom you can be sure of seeing at Reunion, is running again as selectman in Arlington. His outstanding and distinguished record makes election a certainty. He is currently serving his second term and is a past chairman of the board of Selectmen. While we have many civic-minded and active men in our class, Art must lead all the rest. A listing of his accomplishments, his memberships, the offices he's held, and the organizations he's served would keep Cassius Clay going an hour.

This is just about the last call. The Roaring Twentieth is just a matter of weeks away. Pre-registration is greater than ever expected. This together with the careful and excellent planning of Berry-Craig-Welch & Co. guarantees the weekend of June 19-21 to be one of the most memorable and pleasant ones for you and your family. Come early and stay late.

Ed Grace '38 and Ilene and Charley Edison '43 were among the audience at theGlee Club's spring concert in St. Louis.
