Dartmouth freshman teams are, on the whole, doing a bit better than their older brethren. Chick Evans' frosh basketball team has won five and lost one, while the frosh hockey team has won four, tied one and lost one. The '56 swimming team has won two and lost two, while the frosh track squad has a 1-1 record.
The Dartmouth Carnival Queen this year, Miss Junie Dunham, was the date of Dartmouth hockey captain, Bruce Haertl. Not only did Bruce have to turn her over to the press for sometime, but he had to be in bed at 11 p.m. Friday night following her selection, which was rubbing it in a bit. The young lady, an ardent hockey enthusiast, told reporters, "I hope Dartmouth beats Princeton tomorrow. Other- wise, Bruce will be a perfect bear to live with this weekend." Dartmouth lost 4-0.
Alumni in the greater New York area will be interested to learn that Dartmouth and Yale will play a hockey game at the Playland Arena in Rye, N.Y., on Monday evening, March 9 with proceeds going to the artificial ice fund. Dartmouth alumni of Westchester and New York are going all out to promote the benefit game, which should be a top-notch contest.
Alumni of the Midwest will also be happy to hear that the Dartmouth varsity hockey team is making plans for a trek out that way next Christmas. Tentative arrangements have been made to have the Big Green play two games at the University of Minnesota and two games at the University of Denver during the 1953 Christmas holidays.
