Back to the keyboard again as we come down the home stretch of the fiscal and educational year. To start off this month's notes, I have a couple of general items which bear mentioning here. As regards the Fund progress, '52s in Hanover rate a rocket or two for their excellent response to the call. In case you Tuck, Med., and Thayer guys don't know it, you gave not only the class but the whole Fund machinery a boost. Item No. 2 concerns those domesticates, who are now fathers. The class baby will be announced either this early summer or in the first issue of the Magazine next fall. Results are still incomplete. Any of you who have not notified me of any direct scions which you are responsible for drop me a card to that effect. (Guess that leaves you with a pretty wide scope note New Yorker, observe' reprint restrictions.) Anyhow, I got records to keep up, so keep me informed. Item No. 3 concerns photographs. Can use same to take up some space so that you won't have to read so much and I won't -nutf said. Item No. 4. Wives of '52: You will find that in most cases your husbands confess a false sense of modesty and on occasions will not be prone to letting me know of their achievements. If you will take it upon yourselves to be informants I guarantee diplomatic immunity and anonymous references. They've been pretty good so far, but I am trying to look ahead.
And so to what's new with '52.
Sandy Wiper wrote a most informative letter on the Quantico contingent. Al Fiertz is a recent grad of that emporium and DickBrown is among those who has been partaking of Marine life. Sandy himself is playing ball for the leathernecks in his spare time. PeteTaylor is a relative newcomer to that area and is at present nearing the completions of his officer's candidate training.
From Borne Pattern comes the following letter which I shall reprint here in part. The heading on the stationery refers correspondence to Borne (File No. 00/GZP/850). The subject of the letter concerned an element lacking in this column. He was concerned with the lack of information concerning "the Tennessee boys of '52." While two of the men he mentioned have already received notoriety on these pages previously, two others have not. Pete Robinson is wearing the Blue, but his station as of this date is unknown. BillThomas is soon to complete his training at Pensacola from whence he will become part of the saltwater fly boys. The last paragraph of Bome's letter I will repeat in full here in hopes of adding a note of encouragement to the now not so "Future Boy Ensigns" organization at Tuck:
"And last but not least of the Tennessee boys comes myself. My career as an ensign has been somewhat diversified. After seeing you on the fleet landing in Newport, our ship (USS Carter Hall) returned to Norfolk. After a minor illness I was detached from her and sent to NOB, NorVa for a month's temporary duty. Then my permanent orders came through. As you can guess from the letterhead, I am stationed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Va. It is wonderful duty, and there is never a dull moment. As for my personal life, I was married on the 18th of June to the former Miss Betty Wiggs of Chattanooga. And to top it all off we are expecting an addition to our family in July. I would like to take this opportunity to extend to the class via you our hopes that any time any of the class are in Norfolk they will come and see us. Information has our phone number, and the doors are always open to Dartmouth men."
As you can see, It's not impossible ? Thumbing through my notes at random here's the latest on those not necessarily from Tenn.
Tom Clapp is another addition to the Army and is completing his basic training at Fort Dix. Deke Emmons is now serving with the 45th in Korea. Lt. Deke is a platoon leader in the 180th Regiment. C.Napoleon Tremblay can be found abroad, courtesy of the US Army, at the Garmisch Recreation Area in Germany. Malcolm Brochin, now at the Harvard Med School, has been recently admitted to the Connecticut State Medical Society student membership that is. Dave Griggs has taken to fishing from the scientific approach. He has shipped out on the Vagrant, which I am told is close to, if not, the largest steel motor yacht in the world. The vessel was recently operating off the Western coast of South America on a Yale-sponsored scientific and fishing expedition.
Speaking of Yale, Dave Drexler writes from New Haven that "Johnny Barto, Larry Newman and myself managed to survive first semester exams so that it looks like we'll be here until Uncle Sam finds out about us." Dave offers open house to all '52s who get within the vicinity of Bulldog Villa for a snack, drink, etc. Understand also that late this winter the Harvard Law School took over its Blue counterpart on the basketball court with little or no effort, and with considerable assistance from Ev Parker.
Back to the most frequently discussed subject in this column this year, April 11 was the big day for Larry Noting and Monica Lennox as they took their vows in Indianapolis. BobJelly was best man, while among those in the cut-aways was Dek Davidson. Larry is another Army man, for the time being. His bride is a Connecticut College graduate. Lt. Sam Wallis made Barbara Prince his wife on March 21 last. Sam left Hanover during his sophomore year for the wild blue yonder via jets and such. His wife is a Westfield Teachers College '52. Tom Collins was married on March 4 to Linda Faye in Norwalk, Conn. She was graduated from the University of California last February and Tommy is at the Law School at Penn. They'll live in Philly. AndyStewart on April 4 was married to Eleanor Maun. Andy is with the Marines while Eleanor is a graduate of the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
New additions to those soon to be married number four, as I have it now. Dave Swain and Mary Busch are engaged. Dave finishes Tuck next month and Mary graduates from Smith with the class of '53. Heather Young and Ens. Cyril Gsell have announced their engagement. Cy is on the USS Arneb and Heather is a senior at Wheaton.
Another '52 Marine, Lt. Ed Fitzgerald, is engaged to Margery Cahoo. She graduated from Colby Junior and the Mary Hitchcock School of Medical Technology. Bill Ford, Ens. USNR, and Pat Stone of Scarsdale, N. Y., are soon to be bride and groom. She's a senior at Endicott Junior College.
One domestic event this month: on March 21 Chev and Joan Haskell became the proud parents of Grant Pickens Haskell, weighing in at 6 pounds and 14 ounces. Hey, you two, that announcement was the best I've seen in some time.
From here on out you are on your own until next month. Do want to extend congratulations to all of you who are graduating from Tuck, Thayer, and the Med School though. Best of luck to you; wouldn't mind taking in graduation myself.

Albert Hastings'52, Timothy Jameison '52, Charles Knudson '52, Mason McKibben Jr. '51, John McNary '52. Theyare shown talking with Capt. Fred Fess, helicopter pilot.
