Carl Noyes wrote a note of apology to RUGBUG for driving through Greenfield recently on a tour of seeing his widespread relatives but being complete with family could not stop But his note signified he'd be seeing Rug in June anyway so that fixed everything. Carl also had a visit from the Bandy Dwinnell family last Thanksgiving time and took Bandy's two boys on a tour of ships at the Brooklyn Navy Yard followed by a small reunion with Shel Wagner, Bud Reed and Bandy at Fran Evans' home, along with their respective moderators.
Gus Farwell reports that on his trip to Puerto Rico he ran into Jim Timson who was enioying his second honeymoon. Jim being a widower with three kids has married a widowalso with three and following the honeymoon they returned to Jim's big house in Hinsdale, 111., which they say will handle six children with ease. Both Farwells and Timsons have
plans to get back to Hanover in June. A note from Hal Evans who has contacted the sea-faring Commander MacMillan, famous for his annual trips to the North Pole area. Hal went with him on a couple of trips after
graduation and may be East this summer on a repeat if everything works out. Also reports on the Dickey Dinner recently held at the Hollywood Roosevelt which, being stag, had the largest turnout ever in Southern California. '37s attending were Bob Cone, Ed Skowrup,Eric Rafter, Chuck Schaaf, Brad Peterson and the Club President Frank Danzig.
Ralph Griffith writes he may have some trouble getting back in June due to a new baby (third) and a new house (no number) but they hope for the best. (The way Ralph shows up at all Boston functions we got a buck says he makes it!)
Being as this will be the final issue before the end of the Alumni Fund Drive we would like to mention that we particularly took note in Al Bryant's last letter to the class of the fact that classes just preceding us were really turning up the dough per capita. Our average gift was eight bucks shy of the nearest one, namely 1936, and all others were substantially more. It gives us food for thought and, further, we should make a good showing this year with as many contributors as possible if we're ever going to. This is our special year so let's see what we can do.
Sharp-eyed Bill Falion picks a note out of the New York Times that John and MarionHerman had their third child last month, another daughter.
Jim Hathaway left the University of Penn the first of this year to take a job as Personnel Manager at the New Holland Machine Cos., in New Holland, Pa. Also expects to move the family out there this month Tudor Wall says he seldom sees any classmates around Oakland, Calif., but he purposely maintains a loose business schedule should any happen along which would give him free time to socialize Dave Pearsall spent a while in the States after two years in Colombia with United Fruit. Visited his family in New Canaan, N. H., but found he was a bit unsuited to "God's country" after so long in the tropics. Returning to his own family in Colombia and hopes to start his own business there....
A sad note from Walt Heer that their oldest child and only daughter died with a brain tumor this winter. She was 11. May we extend sincere sympathy on behalf of the class. He also says Jim Risk is no longer in the diplomatic service and we await further clarification Boz Bosworth received a 15- page letter from Bill Ward (one page for each year of not having written before) from his B Bar Ranch in Miner, Mont., which he describes as active and expanding-mostly cattle raising Pat Uhlmann expects to attend reunion and claims he hears that John Arborio spends six months of each year at Eustis, Fla., which probably accounts for no one ever hearing from that mystery man Practising pediatrician Bill Mauran says we should have king size name tags at reunion so "myopic classmates with cloudy and sometimes alcoholic depression of the memory won't need glasses" - good idea.... Russ Stearns in Hanover teaching at Thayer School is on Hanover School Board. Says Hank Doremus stopped in last fall during bird season and Jon Coggeshall has own engineering firm in Pleasantville, N. Y. Also wants any returning classmates to look him up at any time. ...Art Guyer is headed back to Europe with family but we have no further particulars.... Don Bauer, practising radiology in Coos Bay, Oregon, can't make the trip this reunion but is already hoping for the 20th....Jim Otis still selling for McGregor sportswear and traveling our north country. Never was credited in these sheets for daughter Kathy, now going on three.... Mai Merritt now Associate Editor of a monthly business paper devoted exclusively to public water supply, Water WorksEngineering, and as outside hobby is sceretary of James Joyce Society, an international organization of Joyce students and scholars JohnPalumbo in Bridgeport, Conn., is headmaster of Fannie A. Smith School, teaching Italian at University of Bridgeport, working fulltime at EI Dorado Transportation Cos., and taking a course at Columbia in Portuguese once a week. (We hear John is also a golfer of some note but don't see how he squeezes that in.)... Bill Carhart, we note, is assistant Superintendent at Western Electric in Cicero, III Dick Joslin with Dupont in Wilmington, Del., as chief clerk and salesman in export sales of textile fibres Bob Marschalk is VP in Vick Chemical Co.,.. . and AI Jacks seems to have taken up a permanent assignment in Rome.
