Long live the U.S. mail systeml Until a couple of days ago, I thought that I would have no alternative but to do a little sketch to fill up this column's space. However the mail came, and you thus have all been saved.

But let us get on with the news A letter from 2nd Lt. A. Kent Robinson, USMC, postmarked Pensacola, Fla., brings us up-to-date on several classmates in that area. Kent, DudMillikin, and John Heintzleman reported to Pensacola for flight training upon receiving their Marine commissions at Quantico in early February, and have since been joined by fellow Corps men, Tom Dixon and JohnnySpringer. The training thus far has proven very interesting, although Kent admits that as yet they are barely "wet behind the ears." Attempting to increase interservice harmony, Kent allows that he has been spending some time with two little boy blues, Ens. DaveHalloran and Seaman George "Yogi" Weston, who are also stationed at the base. Dave is enrolled in naval flight training, whereas George apparently has been regularly assigned to that base for the past few months. If we're not mistaken, "Yogi" has been in the Navy for about two years, serving on the Big Mo prior to his Pensacola assignment. Incidentally, further details on the Robinson-Fordsman wedding which we mentioned last issue: Bill Hazelton escaped from his Tuck School habitat to usher, while Urb Shreiner and TornTrager journeyed north from Army school in Md. for the ceremony and the liquid refreshment.

From the big city has arrived a cheery missive from Herb Solow, currently working for Wm. Morris Agency, probably the largest agency in the theatrical field. DBS's gift to the entertainment world enthuses about his work. He is in daily contact with most of the leading radio and movie stars, but admits that some of his tasks are quite menial and that the pay as yet is hardly equal to that of the president of Gen. Motors. Herb also mentioned the sad attempt of Turner Austin and himself to stir up interest in a '53 class dinner held at the Dartmouth Club of N. Y. a few months back: it seems that only WaltGiberaux joined them for the repast. However, that incident apparently has not dimmed his class loyalty, and he encourages anyone looking for excitement while in N.Y.C. to call him at his office, JU 6-5100, or at home. About the only '53 Herb has bumped into is Bob Lundegaard. Bob has been working for the N. Y. Daily News, just waiting for Uncle Sam's Army to swallow him up. And lastly our correspondent adds that he recently elected to forsake bachelorhood; he now claims Maxine Turner, a young apparel designer from his home town of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., as his fiancee. Congratulations, Herb!

And from Boston, Rex Schirmer writes of his engagement to Gertrude Theophile, culminating a romance that originated way back in high school in Waban, Mass. Rex is now attending Harvard Business School, and a few miles down the Charles R., Gertrude is performing secretarial work for her alma mater, Boston University. Rex adds that TomBloomer and Fred Stephens live right below him, and that the three of them comprise onehalf of his study group.

We also have recently heard from one '53 who relinquished that same Cambridge, Mass., environment and Harvard Law School a few months ago for military life. That individual, Steve Sanderson, informs us in his letter that he is about to set sail for Ethiopia or thereabouts, having just finished sixteen weeks of basic at Ft. Dix. Apparently, Army life has proven less upsetting for WillyChamberlin, Steve's brother-in-law and former roommate, who has just been assigned as a typist for a benevolent colonel at Ft. Bragg. We're glad to see that the Army is assigning Bill to a position where they can derive maximum benefit from his liberal arts background.

Cupid's Comer

The marriage of Dave Picker to Caryl Schlossman of New York City represents the only wedding news this month. The ceremony was performed on February 25 at the Waldorf-Astoria, with a reception following, and then the couple left for a Florida honeymoon. Dave and Caryl are now making their home in New York.

There are, however, several engagements to be announced this month: first "Pat Patterson to Constance Elliott of Portland, Me., and Chamberlain School. Pat is presently finishing his first year at Tufts Medical School Ens.John Thornley USN to Nancy Crawford of Shaker Heights and Smith College. Johnny is stationed aboard the U.S.S. Ware.... Ens.George Sarner, USNR, to Patricia Ann Sloman of Stamford, Conn., and Skidmore College. The last news we heard on big George was that he was attending supply school Clint Mason to Sylvia Breuchaud of Woodbury, Conn., and Mt. Holyoke College, '54. As we mentioned in a previous column, the pride of Peterborough, N. H., is working for the Western Electric Co. in New York BruceHolt to Doris M. Erickson of Glen Rock, N. J., and Centenary Junior College. Bruce has recently completed his service stint with the U.S.A.F. in Alaska and is resuming his studies here in Hanover ... and lastly, 2nd It. Bill (S.)Smith USA to Ida Edwards of Hyannis, Mass. Bill is now passing time at Camp Rucker, Ala., where he is an ordnance officer.

Well, as there are no new papooses to add to the class scroll, that just about winds up this article. However, we have one request to make. Would you please mail that information card you recently received from Hanover back to us? Not only does it supply us with information for this column, but it is necessary if I am to keep the class records complete and to properly administer such matters as the class baby award. Thanks!

And let's not forget our responsibility in the Alumni Fund drive.
