One of the largest crowds in the history of the Club came to the Wellesley Country Club on Thursday evening March 25 to participate in "Operation Pow-Wow." An enthusiastic group of 140 alumni and wives assembled to hear Prof. John Clinton Adams of the Dartmouth faculty in his address "Is Peace with Russia Possible?" and to pay honor to HaroldH. "Red" Jensen '39, a patient at the Mary Mac Arthur polio center of Wellesley Hills.

A non-cooperative Boston weather man failed in his attempt to cut our hoped-for large gathering and shortly after 6:30 the customary Wheelock Tavern set the party in motion. It wasn't long before the hall took on the spirit of a typical Big Green reunion, with classmates and wives agreeing the ladies were indeed a most welcome addition to our parties, and that the affair was destined to become an annual event for this area.

One hour later the group sat down to an excellent dinner, after which President Robert C. Bankhart '37 called the attention of the group to the coming Pops Concert sponsored by the Boston Alumni Club in May, and urged all to attend. Following the meal, President Bankhart introduced John Adams, the dynamic and popular Professor of History at Hanover, who gave a most comprehensive and interesting talk on Soviet Russia. It is easy to see why Professor Adams is held in such high esteem by his students and why his courses are so popular. He gave a very clear, understandable picture of Soviet conditions as they exist to-day and traced Russian imperialistic movements and policies back to the beginnings of the Russian empire.

At the conclusion of his talk Professor Adams answered questions from the floor and a group of alumni were seen still in discussion with him long after the regular meeting had adjourned.

We were very pleased to have Red Jensen '39 as our guest and to make it possible for so many Dartmouth alumni to greet him. Red, who formerly was active in the Springfield Club, has been a patient for some time now at the Mary MacArthur polio center here and was making his first public appearance. The Secretary procured a special scroll entitled, "A Wah Hoo Wah! to Red Jensen '39" and entrusted it to George H. Macomber,'20 and his wife Hazel, who secured signatures of the group, after which it was presented to Red as a memento of this occasion. The Club deeply regretted sickness prevented Mrs. Jensen from making the journey from Springfield to Wellesley to be with Red on this occasion.

Classes attending the meeting ranged from 1902 to 1952, with Albert H. Dalrymple accompanied by his wife holding the honors for '02. The younger group was spearheaded by Hugh M. Chapin '47, James Gregg '50, Richard A. Miner '51 and Howard W. WhitakerJr. '52, the latter being accompanied by his wife Barbara. It is well to note fathers of the younger group; namely, Chapin '06; Gregg '14; Whitaker '20 and Miner '21 were all present.
