The "Fund of Information" column of the July 5 Barron's reports that Ed Haldeman, president and chief executive of Putnam Investments, participated as a panelist in a session titled "Reforming the Fund Industry" at the annual Morningstar Investment Conference. Ed was quoted and referenced several times in the column regarding his thoughts on this topic, and on what positive developments have resulted from then-recent fund scandals—"A much clearer recognition of the special fiduciary relationship that portfolio and asset managers have."

Also in the news, Vsource Inc., a provider of customized global business process outsourcing announced the appointment of Stephen E. Stonefield to its board of directors. Stephen is also chairman of Lion Digital Pictures, a member of the Economic Review Committee for financial services in Singapore, member of the Securities Industry Council of Singapore and a member of the International Advisory Board, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Stock Exchange.

John S. Wolf has left his position of assistant secretary of state for nonproliferation with the State Department to take up the duties of the presidency of Eisenhower Fellowships. He will oversee a program that brings up to 25 rising leaders at a time from foreign countries to the United States and sends American fellows abroad. John is quoted as looking forward to the intellectual challenge of meeting really thoughtful and articulate fellows.

And from the world of arts, many of you probably read James Nachtwey's moving and eloquent tribute ("Appreciation") in the August 16 edition Time magazine on the passing of photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson.
