Announcement by The New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. was made on January 7 of the promotion of Elmer F. Ardiff to general sales manager in charge of Massachusetts. A real veteran in service, Elmer started with the New York Telephone Co. in 1922 and transferred to the New England company two years later as a force engineer, working in the traffic and commercial departments in Lowell and Lawrence and becoming a general supervising commercial operations engineer in Boston. For the past two and a half years, Elmer has been stationed in Springfield as general supervisor of the western area. The greater Boston group notes with pleasure that he now will move back into our midst.

The appointment of John L. Taylor as vice president in charge of sales was announced January 17 by Edwards Co. of Norwalk, Conn., pioneer manufacturers of signalling and communications equipment. Associated with that company for thirty years, Jack previously held the title of general sales manager.

Among the January guests at the Hanover Inn were Gene Hotchkiss, Killy and ElizabethKibnarx, Paul and Elizabeth Peters.

A note from Ben Rassier advises that he and Pauline entered the state of grandparenthood in no uncertain manner in 1954. Leslie Jeanne was born to daughter Jeanne, wife of Dr. Edwin E. Carter, on January 19, and Benjamin F. Rassier III was born to Mary Terry Rassier, wife of Ben Jr., on May 7.

Killy Kilmarx, as alumni member of the committee, has been right in the thick of the job of choosing the new football coach. There is considerable evidence to indicate that the choice was a commendable one. One of the undergraduate members of the committee was Warren Daniell's son Jere '55.

MV and Mrs. Douglas Gordon Grant of Corner Rrook, Newfoundland, have announced the engagement of their daughter Jean to Wilbur W. Bullen Jr. '54. A June wedding is planned and the prospective groom s parents expect to fly up for it.

Unhappily I report the untimely passing of Loosh Sherman on January 8. An obituary appears in the In Memoriam section of this issue.

Our class is well represented by undergraduate sons in the College currently. Here they are:

You are reminded again of the Hanover party for 1922, the weekend of March 11-13. It is not too late to make reservations at the Inn if you do it without delay. This occasion should be particularly alluring to those couples who have undergraduate sons, but it will be fun, also, for those of us less fortunate in that respect. Join us for this reunion. You'll like it!
