April! Raincoat and rubber month. And as I survey my small piece o£ the world from atop muddy Mortgage Mountain and wonder how the other 479 of you are, I am reminded that I should put together another month's whimsy and odd assorted pieces of information together into a column.

Ed Rutherford, now of West Chester, Pa., and Miss Nona Hare Conger of Bridgeport, Pa., announced their engagement at the end of January. Saul Kwartin, who not so long ago remarked to us that women were hard come by in Stamford, took another good look and became engaged to Miss Ruth L. Miller of that city on January 28. Ruth is a Skidmore senior. They are planning a summer wedding.

While in Houston businessing awhile ago, I called Bob Douglas and found that this year has turned the Douglases into nomads. Transferring officially to Houston, on behalf of Gulf Oil, last fall, Bob is set for a tour of production operations in Texas and Louisiana that will keep them moving periodically all year. Add to this the fact that a blessed event is due about the time you will read this and you come up to the conclusion that familiarity with all aspects of a business can have its drawbacks. Bob passed along the word that Huck Newberry, Ft. Worth attorney, was to receive an indefinite sentence of matrimony with a young lady at the end of February. A much-too-brief stop in Ft. Worth didn't allow time to follow up on this lead but we're looking for further information from Bob, Huck or others of the faithful who were to be part of the bridal party.

Johnny Fenno passes the word that his latest check shows 260 of us as class dues payers. His reminder that it is not too late to get your money in and read all about the resurgence of Dartmouth in the many fields of scholarship, athletics, etc., in this publication each month. No need to have a special invoice. Just send your four bucks along with a printed note as to whose money it is. Some of your signatures reflect the morass that our age group, foundering between the Palmer and the New Legibility methods of handwriting instruction, has found itself in. Mine, I might add, is no exception.

Frank Stern, Dept. of Geography, Lyman Hall, Syracuse University, Syracuse, N. Y., sends word that his family is fine and that he is leading a tour of Northwestern Europe in the summer for the National Education Association.

Bob Bastion is Illinois-lowa sales representative for Waltco Products, Chicago sporting goods manufacturer. They make tubular glass rods, nylon spinning reels, picnic kits, etc.

Jack Taylor has gone into business for himself as a realtor in his home town of SumMit, N. J. Jack, who for the past five years has been associated with the Holmes Agency of that city, hung out his shingle on January 14 at 457 Springfield Ave. He lives at 11 Webster Ave.

Jim Eckman, 538 Lynnfield St., Lynn, Mass., has left his position of distribution manager of the Lynn Chamber of Commerce to take a position on the marketing research staff of the Outdoor Lighting division of General Electric.

Walter O. Wood is doing graduate work in psychology at the University of Maine. Their son, Bradford Walker, was born last October 27. The address is 19 Brewster St., Bangor, Me. Dick and Huldah Bredenberg added another boy, Leif John, to their family on February 3. Al and Nancy Gustafson had a boy, too: he arrived on March 1 at 12:42 A.M., and will be referred to as Paul Edward.

Since this is late getting to press, we'd best not stretch it any. See you next month.
