Coach Ellie Noyes' varsity and freshman track teams were the last winter teams to close out their schedules, meeting Boston University in a dual track meet at Hanover on March 19.

The Big Green has a record to date of three losses and one win in dual competition and finished sixth in the Heptagonals at Cornell.

Coach Noyes sent six men into the big IC4A meet at New York, but only one of these - pole vaulter Lou Metzger - got into the finals. Metzger's vault of 13 feet was good enough for the finals, but there he was simply outclassed. Pole vaulters Bill Springer and Bill Buchanan, along with Captain John Harlor in the broad jump, high jumper Dick Fairley and George Bixby in the weights could not advance beyond the first-round against the stiff competition.

The Big Green did better in the Indoor Heptagonal Championships held at Cornell. Dartmouth placed sixth out of eight teams with Cornell winning the meet over Yale. Pete Jebsen was top man for Dartmouth, finishing second in the 1,000-yard run, while Sandy Heath took a fifth in the 600-yard run. Metzger tied for fourth in the pole vault and George Bixby placed fifth in the weight events. The Big Green relay team of John Green, Bill Kustrup, John Jeameney and Doug Brew finished fifth in that event to give the Indians a total of 9¾ points for the meet.

As was expected, Dartmouth bowed the following week to a strong Yale team by a 64½ to 44½ score at Hanover, although the meet was closer than expected. Dartmouth's frosh team also lost to Yale by a 68-36 score.
