This time next year we'll all have a chance to live it up at our big 15th Reunion. And after only fourteen years, too - there's a real bargain for you. Al Button and his crew of planners have been operating in low gear since 1952, but now they are swinging into high. Look out Hanover!

The memorable cry, " '42 out," signaled the arrival of marauding sophomores about to stage midnight maneuvers back in the fall of 1938. Now it's the rallying cry of a gang of old grads trying to recapture the feeling of Hanover, the Nugget, the Common, the Armpit, etc. Maybe we won't be able to match the pace of the good old days, but remember - you won't have to make that 8 o'clock class either. Yes, take my word for it, you'll have "fun at the Big 15th in '56.

To you two-time losers who missed the 5th Reunion and the 10th, here's your chance to get caught up. Start thinking about Hanover for the 15th Reunion of Class of 1942 of Dartmouth College, scheduled for June of 1956. And start planning, too! Write some of those letters you've put off for the last few years. What do you think about some prizes for the member of the class who comes from the farthest distance? Or the couple with the biggest family? Let's hear your suggestions for the kind of festivities you each prefer.

Every year we learn more about the workings of the College. It was news to us, for instance, that last year the Alumni Fund contributed thirteen per cent of the College s operating expense. The Alumni Fund Scholarship Reserve is being spent to offer financial help to a few more outstanding scholarship applicants. It is an important reason why 23% of the two younger classes now in College are on scholarships as compared with 17% of the junior and senior students.

The American Alumni Council has published a list of the top ten colleges and universities in the country ranked according to the amount of alumni gifts to the alumni fund, number of alumni contributors, per cent of alumni contributors, and total alumni giving. Dartmouth and Princeton are the only two colleges appearing on all four lists. For years Dartmouth led all other institutions in the percentage of alumni contributors. However, last year Princeton, with 67.9%, topped Dartmouth's 67.7%. Incidentally, last year Dartmouth's Alumni Fund produced the equivalent of the income on $17 million, half the total endowment of the College.

Dick Lippman reports that our class efforts in the Green Derby are matching last year s pace. But more than that will be necessary if we are to cop the top spot again, because our competition is really hustling this year. We are shooting for 500 contributors and should get them if all those who gave in '53 and/or '54 come through this year. Sounds easy and it will be, too, if we all sit down tonight and send that all-important check.

Harvard University has announced that at their midyear commencement Harold L.Bond, professor in the Dartmouth English Department, received a Ph.D. degree.

Herbert W. Swain has been promoted from men's furnishings buyer to merchandise manager for men and boys, Franklin Simon, New York.

The president of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association this past winter was none other than the pride of Newport, Vt., former ski ace, Bob Searles. He also served as referee for the National Collegiate Ski Championships held at Norwich University in March.

Anybody moving to Detroit? Bill Donovan is deep in the throes of the real estate "game' in Grosse Pointe on Detroit's east side. You name it, he's got big houses and small ones, all sizes and shapes. Just tell him Fletch sent you - you'll get a good deal.

Chairman of the 1955 Red Cross fund raising campaign in Enfield, Conn., this year was Art Huck. Art is time study supervisor in the Industrial Engineering Department at the Thompsonville Plant of the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co. He is a past chairman of the Enfield PTA Council and vice president of the Enfield Parent-Teacher Association.

N. J., Dr. Richard B. MaxwellJr. was named chairman of the Westfield committee of the Union County Association for Mental Health recently. He is a member of the board of directors of the county association and is an assistant attending physician at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N. J.

Dick Silver 'awhile back took time out from his chores peddling chemicals for the Akron Chemical Company-long enough to look in on Alice and Charlie Sturz in Birmingham, Mich. He found portly Charles just returned from a trip to sunny California, during which jaunt the family had been snowbound in a Wyoming blizzard. Seems as if John de la Montague's efforts to tame that part of the country have been in vain. It's still the wild and wooly West.

Remember, just twelve months to go before the frolicking FIFTEENTH. Start planning now!
