The fifth annual Tea Dance for the benefit of the Scholarship Fund was a rousing success on October 20. It was held among the colorful surroundings of the Hunt Club in Gates Mills, Ohio. The final report of the Treasurer is not yet completed, but indications are that the local coffers will be more than $400.00 richer when the last bill has been paid. Going around with smiles of satisfaction on their faces for a tremendous job well done are Johnny Knutsen '40 and Dick Lezius '47, who co-chairmanned the event. They were aided and abetted by an active women's committee which included Mrs. John N. Davenport '39, Mrs. John L. Knutsen '40 and Mrs. Robert MacMillen '40.
About 450 people danced to music that was really danceable, played by Clint Noble and his band. Adding to the club's reputation as host par excellence, this dance is proving to be a "must" in the fall scene around the Cleveland area. In fact, there are almost as many friends from all the other Ivy schools as there are from Dartmouth - a fact which speaks well for the ticket selling committee, headed by Chuck Richardson '44, and the well-deserved publicity which carries over from year to year.
Our weekly luncheons, held each Friday at the Mid-Day Club in the Union Commerce Building, have shifted into high gear with the advent of the football season. Many of the "regulars" have seen one or another of the games played thus far and have been eager and willing to explain the plays and the players to those of us who have only been able to read about them in the coaches' weekly football letter brought in each week by Larry Miter '28.
We are looking forward to our Christmas luncheon for prospective students, undergraduates, and alumni to be held this year on Saturday, December 29, at the Mid-Day Club. Make your plans now to attend.
