J. Frank Drake '02 has received the 1954 American Petroleum Institute's Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement. Symbolizing outstanding contribution to the petroleum field, the award was presented to him by the Chairman of the API Board of Directors at the Institute's 36th annual meeting in Chicago on November 14. President of Gulf Oil Corporation for seventeen years and chairman of the board for five, he has been a member of the board of the American Petroleum Institute, has served as a member of the Petroleum Industry War Council, and was chairman of the National Industrial Conference Board (1945-47). He received an honorary LL.D. degree from Dartmouth in 1952.
