When you read this, the Tremendous Thirtieth will probably be under way, so all we can say is we wish you were going to be in Hanover with us. You'd have a grand time.

The annual class officers meetings brought six '28ers back to Hanover May 3-4 for a very pleasant pre-reunion weekend. In the group were President John Phillips and Peggy, Treasurer Craig Haines and Eleanor, Newsletter Editor Jack Herpel and Cornie, Class Agent Cal Billings, Bill Morton, Chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee, and your secretary.

After a reception Friday afternoon by President and Mrs. Dickey, the 185 class officers went to a banquet at the Hanover Inn and heard President Dickey speak. Meanwhile the wives dined in the Hovey Grill and were entertained by Coach Bob Blackman. Afterwards, Bill and Margaret Kimball led the '28ers to their house for the rest of the evening.

After a full schedule of meetings Saturday morning, there was a choice of six sports to watch in the afternoon. Late in the afternoon a cocktail party was held in the '28ers' rooms at the Norwich Inn. In addition to the visiting firemen listed above, Curley and Laura Sadler and Herb and Mimi Sensenig were present. Unfortunately the Ballards, Breyfogles and Kimballs had previous engagements. In the evening the 300 officers and wives went to Commons and, with Bill Morton presiding, heard a panel of five men present in detail the plans for the Hopkins Center.

Bun Goodrich has been elected Assistant Secretary of the Travelers Insurance Co., Hartford, Conn. Bun is chairman of the Board of Education in Newington, Conn Hammie Hammesfahr is a member of the Darien, Conn., School Board Wally Carr is vice president of the Ridgewood, N. J., School Board which is wondering what to do since the new building referendum for two million dollars was defeated Parker Noyes is a School Com- mitteeman in Beverly, Mass.... John Phillips is a member of the Board of Education in Montclair, N. T.

Jim Fassett, who left Illinois Bell Tel. in 1955 and moved to Orlando, Fla., is crazy about Florida and says: "Y'all come." He manages his own orange grove and sells real estate, being associated with Rex-McGill Investment Co., 214 N. Orange Ave., Orlando.

Earl Tain's son, Earl III, Dartmouth '55, is now on the Ski Patrol, Berchtesgaden, Germany - courtesy of the U. S. Army.... Doug Pease Jr., Dartmouth '58, spent the past year based at Grenoble, France, imbibing European thought, culture and customs Bob Byrne Jr. just finished his freshman year at Union College Woody Houghton's son, Sandy, graduated from Cornell last year and is now with Owens Illinois Glass in Alton, Pa. His younger son, Bob, is Airman Ist, presently at Lowry Field, Colo., having served in Korea, Tripoli, etc., during the last five years.

Merrill Hodsdon says he has two budding clergymen, one at Boston University and one at West Virginia Wesleyan... .Jim Hubbell's youngest daughter, Merrill, finished Stephens College last year and graduates from Indiana University next year. Jim is Executive Director of the Hammond (Ind.) Housing Authority. Hal Moody, superintendent of schools at Athol, Mass., is up to his ears with building a $2,000,000 regional high school. Kay runs Camp Fleur-de-Lis for girls at Fitzwilliam, N. H., and Hal helps with the chores. They had daughters of Jeff Glendinning and Ernie Bessette last summer.

Mort Jennings' son, Ted, graduates from Dartmouth June 9, gets married August 31 and goes into the Naval R.O.T.C. program for three years Art Kneerim's daughter, Jill, is a freshman at Radcliffe and very happy about it (and about Harvard!) Bill Hobson says, "My daughter is engaged to a Princeton chap. I advised against it, but what can a mere father do?".... Gin Adams' son, Douglas, is a sophomore at Dartmouth; daughter Patricia graduates from Crane Institute of Music in Tune and will be married in July.

If you're feeling tired, read this for ideas: Larry Miter and Si Simons have joined Hardy and Slawson in retirement. Larry lives in Cleveland, Si on Santa Rosa Island, Breeze, Fla. (near Pensacola). Si says, "This Florida living is a perpetual vacation and we all love it. Counting pelicans is way ahead of the house count at the Waldorf! Have a 34 foot cabin cruiser and spend a great^deal of time boating and fishing in the Gulf."

Wendell Phillips writes that it may come as a shock to some that he finally married in 1953 and now boasts a fine looking lad of 30 months. He is a partner in the Houston insurance firm of Langham, Langston & Burnett.

Dick Canton was re-married on Oct. 27, to Mrs. Dorothy B. Taylor and now has two more boys, Fred, Middlebury '59 and Pete at Salisbury. His own children are Dick '57, Bob '59, and Sally who is attending Dana Hall.

Chuck Davis is controller of the toy department of Sears Roebuck & Co.... Hal Pierce is office manager of the Marcona Mining Co., Lima, Peru. He has three boys, ages 10, 8 and 6. He is a director of the Los Inkas Country Club and says down there they play golf 12 months out of the year.... Otto Falk, Jr. is a director of the Falk Corp., Milwaukee, and has homes in Lac du Flambeau, Wis., and in Del Mar, Calif.... Len Bohasseck spent his vacation this winter in Florida plus a few days in Havana, where one night at the Tropicana paid for the entire trip.

Al Bishop, a teacher in the Gowanda, N. Y., schools, has organized a small company - Bishop Homes Inc. He has been building four homes each summer, this year hopes to build ten.... Don Benjamin's middle daughter, Elizabeth, is a junior at American International College where Don is chairman of the Parents Association.... Our most concise correspondent this month is Don McKay of the Sales Dept. of The Pfaudler Co., Rochester, N. Y., whose questionnaire read, "2 children, 2 grandchildren, 2 coronaries".... Cal and Genie Billings took two weeks off in March to attend the mortgage bankers convention in New Orleans and then came back by freighter. . . Bud Osborn, recently re-elected president of American Soap & Glycerine Producers Association, is just back from a three-week Honolulu vacation. His daughter is at Walnut Hill School, Natick, Mass.

The Chuck Hazzards spent a couple weeks with the George Boughtons in Delray Beach in exchange for their spending some time with the Hazzards on their island in Georgian Bay, Ontario.... George and Isobel Slawson stopped in to see the Skinners in Troy on their way back to Vermont from a two months vacation trip which included Charleston, New Orleans, Texas, etc. We wish more of you fellows would stop and see us.

Jeff Glendinning is now assistant vice president of the Arlington Trust Co., Lawrence, Mass. His daughter, Amy, graduates from Walnut Hill School in June, and his son, Dave, is a junior at Dartmouth.

Seventeen sons of '2Bers are scheduled to receive Dartmouth degrees June 9, as contrasted with four graduating last year. They are: Andrus, Brownstone, Canton, Dennis, Dietz, Donnelley, Grey, Heston, Hoagland, Hoefle, Jennings, Mann, Norris, David Thompson, Ken Tyson, Bob Tyson, Van Riper. There are eleven sons in the junior class, seven in the sophomore and five in the freshman class.

At a Norwich conclave of '28ers during the class officers weekend, May 3-4, are (l to r) Class Secretary Os Skinner, Cornie Herpel, Newsletter Editor Jack Herpel, Eleanor Haines and Class Treasurer Craig Haines.

Hal Hirsch '29 aboard his chestnut hunter, Lord Dartmouth, who in shows and field events thispast year stacked up more points than any other hunter in Oregon and won the covetedChampionship Hunter Trophy of the Oregon Horsemen's Association. He was also named theyear's Reserve Champion by the Associated Hunt Clubs of Oregon. And Oregon, proudlyreports owner Hirsch, has lots of horses.
