I know all the class will be sorry to hear that Phil Thompson had a major operation late in August. Jennie wrote me about it early in September. Before I started home from New Hampshire I talked on the phone with Jennie and Phil, who was home from the hospital and making a good recovery. Roy Merrill writes he is in pretty fair health but trying not to gain weight.

Neale Carley's widow Pearl lives in Roy's home town Shelburne Falls. Roy sees her occasionally. The Carleys were on the faculty at the Francis Parker school in Chicago when my daughter and son were students there. I used to see them frequently at P.T.A. meetings — a fine couple and excellent teachers.

Late news that will sadden the class has just come in about the death of Frank Bunker on October 11 at the home of his daughter in West Brookfield, Mass. More details will appear in next month's column. Bradlee Watson was among those who attended the burial service October 14 at Lakeport, N. H.
