A recent report by the Faculty Committee on Athletics shows that Dartmouth College subsidized the athletic program at Dartmouth last year at a cost of some $161,000 - the figure representing the difference between costs of $467,000 and income, chiefly from football, of $305,000. This sum covered the costs of supervising and financing varsity and freshman teams in thirteen sports. The DCAC supervised but did not finance such informal sports as crew, rugby, rifle and sailing. Some 720 students participated in formal sports, another 300 on the informal side - over one-third of the Dartmouth student body.
Dartmouth Skiway at Holt's Ledge in Lyme, N. H., has added another trail called "The Papoose." The new trail, designed for beginners, runs for more than a mile and will be a most welcome addition to the Skiway this winter.
The filmed highlights of Dartmouth football games this fall should be edited and ready for distribution in early December. Local alumni clubs and groups interested in showing this film should write directly to the Secretary's Office at Dartmouth soon, as advance bookings are already being scheduled.
