Last month we reported Dartmouth's dual meet losses to Boston University and Cornell which, coupled with an early February defeat by Harvard and the most recent win over Columbia, gives the Big Green trackmen a record of one victory and three losses.

Against Harvard, the Big Green could win only three first places and was completely shut out in four events as the Crimson romped to an easy 74-35 victory. High spot of the meet was the new cage record set in the 600-yard run by Jim Anderson of Harvard with a clocking of 1:12.0. Sophomore Lyn Carlin won the 45-yard hurdles for Dartmouth, while Rod Isaacson placed second in the shotput, Jerry Boyle took second in the 600-yard run, Phil Drescher second in the high jump, Bob Rapp second in the dash, and Captain Dick Schad second in the 1000-yard run. Dartmouth's other points came through winning both relays, with Wheeler Daniels, Tim Tyler, Jim Wooster and Jerry Boyle teaming up to capture the mile relay, and John Kersey, Tom Lennox, Bob Colyer and Mike Kistler winning the two-mile relay for the Big Green.

The Indians made up to some extent for the Harvard rout by romping over Columbia in the Alumni Gymnasium by a 70-39 score. Dartmouth won first place in nine of the thirteen events and captured seven second places to dominate the meet. Mike Kistler and Ed Berkowitz won the mile and two-mile races handily, with Jerry Boyle and Jim Wooster finishing second and third in the 600. Ed Rigney annexed the 35-pound weight toss for Dartmouth, Don Cohen took the broad jump, and the Big Green mile relay team won that event. Rod Isaacson and Steve Margolis teamed up for a one-two punch in the shotput, with Captain Dick Schad and Bob Colyer repeating in the 1000-yard race. Phil Drescher, Duke Bligh and Dave Sloper swept the high jumping, while pole-vaulter John Diggs, who missed the Harvard meet, won that event handily.

Brown and Yale are the two dual meets remaining on the schedule, plus the IC4A and Heptagonal meets, all of which look mighty tough. The Dartmouth track team will have to settle for a rather mediocre season this winter.
