By now, spring has well established herself in Hanover, and Green Key is just around the corner. And what a great corner it is this time of year. Although yours truly always took great pride in Dartmouth's Winter weekend of weekends, there has been a larger place in my collection of College memories for the "Green Key Weekends I Have Known." The beauties of late spring in the North Country— the fraternity picnics, and the dance all lend something to this time of year that none other can exactly equal. Sigh.

Now, back to reality and news from exseafarer Paul Merriken, now touring the U.S. in the capacity of Sales Trainee for U.S. Steel. After completing his visits to various factories around the country, Paul expects to be assigned a permanent territory somewhere west of the Mississippi. During his tour, Paul dropped in on Dick Hogarty and wife, Ann, at the Notre Dame Law School where Dick's in his first year. The Hogartys were awaiting a second visit from the stork sometime in April.

Frank Carlton and his wife, Nancy, find themselves on the same waiting list. They were expecting a second addition to the Carlton clan in April, but Nancy may have had to greet this one alone, since Frank was scheduled for a career-ending cruise of the Western Pacific beginning in April.

Gus Aberle sends word via dog-sled that he and Caryl are stationed in Newfoundland at present. Gus is a Supply Officer with the Navy, and teaches accounting in his spare time in conjunction with the U. of Maryland extension program. Gus has seen one Fiftyfive since arriving in the cold North, PeteBuhler paid him a brief visit as he passed through with an inspection team from the New York area. Pete plans to marry Elizabeth Ann Lindsay — a Lasell Junior College graduate - this coming December.

"Tuck" Creamer writes from Lawrence, Mass., where he's currently employed by the Bolta Products Division of the General Tire and Rubber Company as a management trainee. Tuck recently returned from Hawaii where he was a Platoon Commander with the First Marine Brigade. While on duty, Tuck did a "little art work" for the Public Information Office there, including several pencil sketches of VIP's (the Marine Corps Commandant, for one). The aforementioned portrait was presented to General Pate by the 8,000 men of the First Brigade.

Bruce Alexander, another "civilianized" Fifty-five, writes from Boston where he's working with his father's Insurance agency. Bruce previously went through a training program with the Phoenix Insurance Company in Hartford, and while there, wrote on the State Desk of the Hartford Courant. Bruce is engaged to marry Susan Fuller of West Hartford next September - "forsaking the Epicurean life for the eternal insomnia of nuptial bliss."

Bruce, who served as best-man at Ev Borghesani's wedding last June, reports that Ev and Sally are now living in Philadelphia while he completes Penn Dental School. PeteSarty is at Fort Devens - not far from the Alexander abode, and is a frequent visitor there.

Hob Picken '56, at St. John's College, Oxford (third oarsman facing the camera), rows No. 6 in his college's first crew and reports that in the winter races, The Torpids, they did very well, with three bumps, in the first division, in four days of the bumping races peculiar to Oxford and Cambridge.
