The far western phase of the College's 200th Anniversary Development Program got off to a good start on Wednesday evening, May 7. Guest of honor and speaker at a dinner held at the Ambassador Hotel was John F. Meek '33, Vice President of Dartmouth College. Topping off Mr. Meck's excellent talk was a showing of the new movie, "The Dartmouth College Case." The Development Program in Southern California is under the capable leadership of Walter D. Douglas 2nd, '31, and while "Operation Capital Gifts" is the biggest thing ever attempted by any Dartmouth Alumni group, the top echelon staff can rest assured that Walt will have everything under control in the California area.

Dick Milliken '50, Chairman of our Enrollment Committee, held a luncheon in May for all applicants accepted by the College for entrance next September. Each year we seem to be getting a better crop of young men and many of us "old grads" shudder to think of having to compete with them now for admission to the College. Secondary education cannot be as dimly viewed as some national publications see it.

Kudos to our past President Ed Ramsey '35, who was recently appointed Vice President in charge of the New Products Division of Rexall Drug Co. He recently invited me to try a new mouthwash he claimed was under development, but it surprisingly came out of a three sided container and was labeled "86 proof." Chances are we wandered into the wrong department in his massive, pentagon-like, apothecary shop at La Cienega and Beverly Boulevards.
