The Association as a whole enjoyed a calm, peaceful, orderly holiday season, but some of the individual members managed to "live it up to no small extent." Bill and Eleanore Adams '34, went south into Tortillaville visit ing Acapulco, Mexico City and of course Tiajuana, where they made an unsuccessful stab at the 5-10 pool at hot, dusty, overCaliente race course. Bill came back with a new twist on the popular "screwdriver" concoction. This Mexican develop ment consists of vodka and prune juice and is called a "pilas de manejador," which literally translates into "piledriver." Leon Rothschild '24, sans wife, mind you, joined 2 group of furniture manufacturers for a week end in Las Vegas. Claims he was only over there for the insurance end of his business, but there are those of us who wonder if perhaps he hasn't been bitten by the slot machine virus.

Wendell and Helen Williams '34, brought back a marvelous souvenir from a recent trip to England. They had so much fun traveling about London in a 1938, four cylinder Austin, Wendell had no choice but to buy the taxicab from the not unwilling driver-owner and transport it back to .the San Fernando valley. Wendell doesn't dare take it onto the Hollywood Freeway, but feels he still got a bargain as the local license fee is only eight dollars.

The Southern California Association salutes three members who recently made news in the business field. Bill Keyes '29, and Harry Colmery Jr. '46, have been made partners in the brokerage firm of William R. Staats and Co. and our Treasurer, Dick Hefler '36, has been elected vice-president of the American Potash and Chemical Co. Hats off and best of luck! Our regular monthly luncheons which recessed during the holidays have been put back on the calendar the last Thursday of each month at Lindy's on Wilshire Boulevard. See you there.
